Position Summary:

This position will assist our physicians with entering medical information in the EMR system and assist with check-in/check-out functions. They will be responsible for transcribing patient appointments and documenting physician-patient interactions, including taking notes during patient interviews, entering information into a patient database and writing notes that the physician has dictated. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment where your contributions directly impact patient care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Record patient histories, current symptoms, physician observations, and physical examination findings as they occur. 
Enter medical information into the patient's EMR, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. 
Document all procedures performed, as well as the results of lab work and other diagnostic tests. 
Help with tasks such as writing referral letters, scheduling appointments, and preparing for upcoming patient visits by organizing charts. 
Serve as an extension of the physician during the patient visit, allowing the provider to focus solely on direct patient care. 
Adhere to all relevant medical laws, regulations, and privacy guidelines, including HIPAA. 
Serve as a liaison between the physician, nurses, and other members of the care team, ensuring that necessary information is readily available for treatment decisions. 

Qualifications:

Prior medical knowledge and experience are required.
One-year medical terminology is preferred.
Excellent spelling and typing skills with attention to detail.
Able to communicate effectively with physicians.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using EMR medical software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education and Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or higher a plus.
