What is the Opportunity?  

Aecon is a nuclear constructor leader in extending the life of existing nuclear stations and executing the next generation of nuclear new builds in Canada and the U.S. We provide a full spectrum of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) nuclear services for refurbishment, maintenance, new build, decommissioning, modularization, and fabrication scopes, safely delivering through exacting standards and proven results. 

What You'll Do Here:

• Participate in estimation efforts for Proposal Schedules including resource and contingency estimates.
• Set Project baseline schedules at award, drafting the supporting Basis of Schedule and narratives, securing approval, maintaining records, and aligning with project budget setup and initial risk register.
• Create resource-loaded outage schedules with high attention to detail, shifts, calendars, etc.
• Set the rules of credit with project management while considering cost management.
• Synchronize schedules in Aecon Database and Client Database.
• Integrate, monitor, and control suppliers’ and subcontractors’ schedules.
• Organize internal meetings to validate progress and provide feedback.
• Update the schedules daily, weekly, monthly, or as required by the project.
• Conduct Critical Path, Variance, What-If, Resources, Burn Rates, Risk, and Contingency analyses.
• Create weekly look-ahead schedules, flag deviations, and propose corrective actions to project teams.
• Pay attention to commercial, contractual, and internal changes to analyze impacts and adhere to the Change Management Process through accurate change logs.
• Review and revise schedule logic as needed, demonstrating impacts to Project Management and Corporate Project Controls while logging all changes.
• Establish Earned Value dashboards summarizing schedule information, tracking milestones and resource histograms, and providing inputs to internal and external reporting in alignment with Cost Management.
• Lead and own the reporting process and validate reports with the Project Manager prior to submission.
• Align schedule re-baselines with budget re-forecasts and other Earned Value metrics.
• Analyze schedule quality utilizing assessment tools (e.g., Acumen Fuse).
• Attend and lead meetings with clients and subcontractors to support project scheduling activities.
• Support the risk management process by providing inputs into schedule risk analysis modeling.
• Continuously provide solutions and ideas to improve Project Controls processes.
• Maintain the Enterprise Project Structure (EPS) and proper record keeping of backups.
• Create and maintain a project-specific Schedule Management Plan.
• Provide subject-matter expertise to the project team on any customized reporting tools and dashboards.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
• Provide inputs and participate in Aecon Continuous Improvement processes and activities.
• Contribute to lessons learned and deliver presentations to raise Scheduling and Project Controls awareness for project teams.
• Communicate all activities promptly to Project Management and Corporate Project Controls.
• Perform all activities in compliance with Aecon Project Controls standards, guidelines, industry best practices, and client requirements.
• Assure integrated Project Controls performance considering Cost, Change, Risk Management, and Reporting.
• Coordinate with other departments including Commercial, Design, Procurement, Construction, Finance, etc.

 
 
What You Bring to the Team:

• Quantitative, Engineering, or Construction Management post-secondary degree; university graduate preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Previous exposure and experience in Outage/Maintenance/Turnaround scheduling.
• SAP and estimation software knowledge and experience preferred.
• EPC Contractor (Self-Perform) experience with diverse contract types (Fixed Price, T&M, etc.).
• Construction field experience.
• Demonstrated analytical and adaptive thinking with strong team collaboration skills.
• Meticulous approach focused on quality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Agility and flexibility in a dynamic environment with innovative problem-solving skills.
• Project Controls Ambassador.
• Mega-project or portfolio project experience.
• Demonstrated Project Controls technical knowledge (e.g., PMI Certification).
• Stakeholder management experience.
• Strategic orientation.
• Claims avoidance and/or claims negotiation experience.

Hourly Range & Benefits

Hourly Range: $85.00 - $95.00 hourly
