The opportunity

As an SAP Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Integration Manager, you will lead the design, configuration, integration, testing, and deployment of manufacturing execution solutions connecting SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA with SAP Digital Manufacturing, SAP Manufacturing Execution, and third-party MES platforms. This role partners with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, engineering, automation, and IT teams to create reliable end-to-end processes from production planning through shop-floor execution, material movement, quality recording, traceability, and production confirmation.

As a Manager, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will interact with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that newly implemented technology solutions meet their needs. Your collaboration with technical teams will be essential in designing and delivering effective system architecture solutions.

Your key responsibilities

In this role, you will spend your time engaging with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery. You will face challenges that require analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, providing you with opportunities to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. This position may require regular travel to meet with clients, allowing you to build relationships and understand their needs better. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead discovery workshops to assess current manufacturing processes, MES capabilities, integration requirements, pain points, and business objectives.
• Translate production, quality, traceability, labor, equipment, and reporting requirements into scalable functional and technical solution designs.
• Design end-to-end integration between SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP and MES applications, including production orders, planned orders, materials, bills of material, routings or recipes, work centers or resources, batches, serial numbers, classifications, and inspection data.
• Configure and support inbound and outbound production transactions such as order release, component staging and consumption, confirmations, yield, scrap, rework, goods issues, goods receipts, quality results, and inventory updates.
• Define interface architecture using appropriate technologies such as SAP Integration Suite, SAP Cloud Connector, APIs, OData services, IDocs, web services, event-driven messaging, and plant connectivity solutions.
• Integrate MES with shop-floor systems and equipment, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, historians, robots, CNC machines, test stations, sensors, and industrial IoT platforms.
• Collaborate with SAP PP, PP-PI, QM, MM, EWM, PM, BTP, security, infrastructure, automation, and development teams to resolve cross-functional dependencies.
• Prepare process flows, solution architecture, functional specifications, interface mappings, configuration documents, test scripts, deployment plans, operating procedures, and training materials.
• Plan and execute unit, integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing; manage defects through closure and obtain business sign-off.
• Support cutover, data readiness, mock deployments, go-live, hypercare, and transition to application support teams.
• Troubleshoot interface failures, data inconsistencies, transaction errors, and production disruptions using structured root-cause analysis.
• Apply security, data integrity, auditability, availability, and regulated-manufacturing requirements where applicable.
• Mentor junior consultants, coordinate distributed delivery teams, manage workstream activities, and provide clear status, risk, and dependency reporting.
• Identify opportunities to standardize plant processes, reduce custom development, improve reuse, and accelerate multi-site rollout.

On your typical engagement, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to assess their needs and provide insights on SAP capabilities in manufacturing and quality management. You will lead requirement gathering, solution design, blueprinting, testing, and documentation. Additionally, you will work closely with stakeholders and the technical team to translate requirements into effective business solutions, overseeing configurations, customizations, and integrations with both SAP and non-SAP systems.

• Strong analytical skills to develop solutions to complex problems.
• Proven ability to manage engagement economics and resource planning.
• Experience in leading teams and managing change effectively.
• Ability to identify opportunities for additional services and lead specific RFP responses.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
• Typically, no less than 4 -6 years of experience delivering SAP-enabled manufacturing or MES solutions, including at least one full lifecycle implementation or major rollout.
• Strong functional knowledge of production execution in discrete, repetitive, or process manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience integrating SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP with SAP PP/PP-PI and related modules, including QM, MM, EWM, and PM.
• Experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing, SAP ME/MII, or leading MES platform such as Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Ignition, Plex, or PTC.
• Working knowledge of MES integration architectures, including APIs, OData, IDocs, web services, middleware, SAP Integration Suite, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and edge connectivity solutions.
• Knowledge of Production Operator Dashboard design, production process orchestration, manufacturing analytics, OEE, resource orchestration, or electronic batch records.
• Experience integrating quality inspections, nonconformance management, genealogy, equipment data, or automated data collection with SAP business processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing master data, production order execution, quality processes, batch or serial traceability, and shop-floor controls.
• Ability to facilitate workshops, communicate with plant and executive stakeholders, document decisions, and convert complex requirements into actionable designs.
• Experience supporting testing, cutover, and go-live activities within production environments.
• A flexibility and willingness to travel to meet client needs; travel is estimated at 40-60%.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Consulting experience leading SAP Digital Manufacturing and MES transformation programs, plant deployments, and cross-functional delivery teams.
• Experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing capabilities, including production execution, Production Operator Dashboards, Production Process Designer, resource orchestration, manufacturing insights, issue resolution, and edge or production connectivity.
• Experience with at least three full-cycle implementations, major upgrades, or multi-site rollouts of SAP Digital Manufacturing, SAP ME or MII, or leading third-party MES solutions.

• The salary range for this job is:
  • New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $171,200 to $285,300
  • Bay Area California offices – $178,400 to $297,200
  • All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $142,600 to $261,500
• Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
