Responsible for collecting process and production samples from various designated sample collection points in the mill to be tested by lab personnel. Work involves proper handling, labeling, and delivery of samples, as well as maintaining cleanliness of sampling equipment and work areas to support safe and efficient laboratory operations in Technical Department.

Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collects routine process and production samples on a scheduled basis from designated locations, including pipelines, tanks, mills, and centrifuge areas across multiple facility levels

Obtains samples of cane juice, molasses, sugar, magma, bagasse, filter cake, condensate, mill waste, and related process streams in accordance with established sampling procedures

Performs sample transfer, labeling, and delivery to appropriate laboratory areas to ensure timely and accurate analysis

Conducts sample conditioning and composite sample collection as required to support laboratory testing and process control activities

Maintains cleanliness and readiness of sampling tools, containers, and work areas, including routine cleaning of sample receptacles

Assists with maintaining inventory of sampling supplies, chemicals, and related materials needed for daily operations

Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals

Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Follows organizational safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED;

OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual – English and Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of, or ability to learn, safety protocols and compliance standards related to a laboratory environment

Skill in using mathematics required for the work

Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers

Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner

Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining consistent performance and adherence to operational standards

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
