Safety Technician

Job DetailsJob Location: Pisgah Forest, NC 28768Job Summary: As a Safety Technician for a utility-scale solar electrical subcontractor, you will support the implementation and maintenance of safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. You will work closely with the Safety Manager and other team members to promote a culture of safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

· Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards.

· Assist in the investigation and documentation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses.

· Provide safety training and orientation for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees.

· Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear.

· Maintain detailed records of safety activities, including inspection reports, training logs, and incident reports.

· Assist in the development and implementation of emergency action plans.

· Work closely with the Safety Manager, project managers, and site supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

· Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

· Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.

· Climbing: Climbing ladders and scaffolding to access different parts of the installation.

· Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to install and inspect components.

· Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.

· Weather Conditions: Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

· Safety Gear: Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

· Previous experience as a safety technician or in a similar role, preferably in solar or electrical construction.

· Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to construction sites.

· Strong observational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to conduct thorough investigations and write detailed reports.

· Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30 and OSHA 510; additional certifications in safety management are a plus.
