Research Associate Co-Op, In Vivo Bone Pharmacology

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative student to join the cardiopulmonary and bone team for a 6-month co-op role in our preclinical research group focusing on cardiovascular abnormalities and bone diseases. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on the discovery and development of next-generation therapies. The candidate will gain valuable industry experience and receive extensive training in vivo and ex vivo research. In addition, a successful candidate will be inquisitive about science and capable of troubleshooting by reviewing literature/colleagues and designing experiments to test hypotheses.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supports In Vivo studies: willingness to work with rodents. This includes animal handling, dosing (IP/IV/SC/PO), bleeding, necropsy, tissue collection and wet lab sample processing
• Basic molecular biology techniques: RNA isolation, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA
• Maintains detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and analysis in laboratory notebooks
• Participates in experimental planning, interpretation of data and present findings at team meetings

Core Competencies (Required Skills)

• Physiology, biology, biochemistry and molecular biology
• Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team as well as independently with supervision
• Excellent communication and organization skills, good working knowledge of MS office, and data plotting

Preferred Skills

• Interest in cardiovascular and bone physiology
• Prior experience with laboratory animals (rodents), open to learning and perfecting rodent handling and dosing techniques
• Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques including RNA isolation, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA
• Experience working with imaging and image analysis such as DEXA and microCT is a plus

Education Requirements

• Students with a major in physiology, biology, biochemistry, or related majors

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, and other relevant factors. 

Potential base pay range$28—$32 USD
