About Central Indiana Orthopedics (CIO)

Founded in 1950, Central Indiana Orthopedics (CIO), a proud partner of OrthoAlliance, is an independent orthopedic practice in central Indiana providing compassionate, expert care for bone, joint and muscle conditions. CIO offers comprehensive orthopedic services, including joint replacement and revision, podiatry, spine and interventional pain management, sports medicine and work-related injury care. Patients also have access to imaging, physical therapy, outpatient surgery and Walk-In Clinics for same-day orthopedic care. Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities/Standards:

• Attend department, clinic or company meetings as required
• Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns
• Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members.
• Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
• Attend required annual in-service programs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures.
• Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor

Job Duties: 

• Aid in treatment, care, and safety of patients. Performed regularly every hour.
• Must practice physical therapy consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and the standards of practice of the company.
• Confers with the persons most closely associated with the active management of the patient and to keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modification, and/or progress.
• Must maintain a schedule consistent with the needs of the facility.
• Must work with patients of all ages (0-120 years), race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice.
• Must respect and understand the patient’s right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisions.
• To practice ethical responsibility based on the cultural, ethnic and religious beliefs of the patients served as applicable.
• Prepares equipment for patient treatments as requested by the physical therapist/ assistant to relieve the therapist/assistant to perform his or her professional duties. Performed regularly every hour.
• Performs housekeeping duties of the facility by routine and periodic cleaning; to maintain order and cleanliness throughout the facility. Performed daily.
• Assists therapists/assistants in selected procedures, according to their directions, to aid in patient care in the facility. Performed regularly every hour.
• Responsible for care of equipment, machines, supplies; safety of patients; prevention of unnecessary expense, waste, loss of time, and damage to equipment; order and cleanliness of the facility.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have superficial knowledge of the reasons for patient care as administered in this facility.
• Some knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and neurology would be helpful but not necessary.
• This could be an entry level job. However, some experience in a hospital, PT department/facility, handling patients and equipment, housekeeping experience, nursing home or rehabilitation agency would be preferable.
• Must have sufficient physical strength, dexterity and stamina to handle patients and equipment and to do much walking, stooping, carrying, bending, etc.
