Fairview is looking for an upbeat and energetic Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg Ortho Spine team at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. Located just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis near the 35E and 35W interchange, Fairview Ridges Hospital has been providing high-quality, state-of-the-art care and community services to residents of the scenic Minnesota Valley since 1984. Our 26-bed Adult Med-Surg/Ortho Spine unit offers a fast-paced and diverse environment where no two days are the same. Our nurses care for a wide range of orthopedic, spine, trauma, and medical-surgical patients, providing an opportunity to strengthen and expand their clinical skills. Our patient population can include:

• Orthopedic/spine surgical patients, including planned surgeries and trauma patients coming from the ED (for example, a patient who has fallen at home and requires a hip replacement)
• Dementia and confused patients
• Alcohol withdrawal
• Pneumonia and COPD
• UTIs and pancreatitis
• Wounds and cellulitis
• Osteoarthritis and lumbar disc herniation
• Failure to thrive
• Occasional palliative/hospice patients

Schedule: This position is a .6 FTE, working 48 hours per 2-week pay period. This position works 12-hour shifts, every third weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and on the night 7:00pm-7:30am shift.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborates with patient, family, and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family, and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP)

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:

Required

• Current MN RN License
• BLS required.

Preferred

• BSN or BAN
• 1 – 3 years of RN acute care experience
