Registered Nurse (RN) - Float Pool

Job Summary 

Provides professional nursing care across assigned hospital departments to support patient care needs and operational staffing flexibility. This position is responsible for delivering individualized, age-specific, direct bedside nursing care in accordance with the nursing process, established standards of practice, and patient needs. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care planning, promote continuity of care, and support quality patient outcomes.

This role supports designated areas, which may include Telemetry/Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit settings. The nurse is expected to be cross-trained and competent to practice in at least two applicable service lines to allow for appropriate deployment based on organizational needs. This position supports safe patient care, operational efficiency, and effective workforce management by assisting with coverage during census fluctuations, staff absences, and other staffing challenges while helping reduce reliance on premium labor, including overtime and agency staffing.

Responsibilities

•    Assesses patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, cultural, safety/risk and discharge planning needs on admission and on an ongoing basis. 
•    Determines nursing diagnosis based upon patient assessment and data analysis. 
•    Sets practical, realistic and appropriate patient population specific outcome goals. Utilizes patient and family input when appropriate and guides patient in achieving goals. 
•    Individualizes the patient’s plan of care based on patient needs and circumstantial/procedural complexities. 
•    Implements nursing and medical orders and assures they are appropriate to the patient’s current status. 
•    Other tasks assigned at the hospital 
 

Qualifications

• Special Skills:  
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required.  
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure.  
  • Excellent customer service skills.  
  • Must have basic computer skills 
• Minimum Requirements: 
  • Education: 
    • Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school  
  • License/Certifications: 
    • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona. CPR. ACLS as applicable by Facility/by Department 
• Preferred Requirements: 
  • BSN 
  • 1 year of acute care experience. 
  • License/Certification: 
    • ACLS required or must obtain within six months of hire
