What You'll Do:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to individuals receiving services.  The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing care in collaboration with providers and members of the multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include completing nursing assessments, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient response to treatment, coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges, providing patient and family education, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.  The RN demonstrates knowledge of crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and verbal de-escalation techniques, responding effectively to psychiatric emergencies while promoting the least restrictive interventions necessary to maintain the safety of individuals and staff.  The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care, individual safety, and positive clinical outcomes while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, the Nurse Practice Act, Joint Commission standards, and all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. The RN also participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports orientation and education of new staff as assigned, maintains required competencies, and contributes to a culture of professionalism, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement. 

• Provides safe, compassionate, and evidenced-based nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of professional nursing practice. Performs all essential functions of a Registered Nurse while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Completes comprehensive Nursing Assessments with individuals and documents pertinent information including Triage, Medical/Behavioral Health assessments and medication administration utilizing appropriate assessment tools. Accurately documents findings and promptly communicates changes in condition to the provider and appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Performs medication by obtaining and verifying current medications from the individual, pharmacy, family, caregivers, and other available resources.  Accurately documents medications brought into the facility, ensures appropriate storage, and communicates discrepancies to the provider.  
• Safely prepares, administers, and documents medications in accordance with provider orders, organizational policy, and the rights of medication administration.  Obtains informed medication consent when applicable, monitors for therapeutic response and adverse reactions, providers medication education, and promptly reports medications concerns or errors according to policy.
• Accurately transcribes and implements provider orders, performs required chart checks, and completes nursing interventions including specimen collection, laboratory testing, point-of-care testing, wound care, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other clinical procedures within scope of practice and as ordered by the provider. 
• Continuously monitors individuals for changes in physical psychiatric, and behavioral status and initiates timely nursing interventions, provider notification, emergency response, or transfer to a higher level of care when clinically indicated.
• Coordinates care with providers and members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate timely admissions, transfers, discharges, treatment planning, and continuity of care across observation, crisis stabilization, and walk-services
• Completes accurate and timely documentation that meets organizational, state, federal, and accreditation standards.
• Provides education concerning Psychiatric diagnosis, treatment options, psychopharmacology and overall health literacy to individuals, families and all others involved in the individual’s care.
• Complete nurse to nurse handoff communication during shift changes, admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure continuity of care and safe transitions between providers and levels of care. 
• Monitors the observation, CSU, and walk-in services to coordinate care and safety issues across disciplines.  Collaborates with other members of the Multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth flow of admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Recognizes, reports, and escalates patient safety concerns, environmental hazards, infection prevention issues, medication variances, incidents, and other quality concerns to the Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager in accordance with organizational policy.
• Maintains required licensure, certifications, competencies, and mandatory education.  
• Attends required meetings and completes all assigned training within established timeframes.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives, chart audits, performance improvement activities, infection prevention efforts, and regulatory readiness as assigned.
• Assists with orientation, mentoring, and education of new nursing staff and students as assigned.
• Demonstrates professional communication, accountability, teamwork, and ethical nursing practice while fostering a culture of safety, respect, and service excellence. 
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

• Graduated from an accredited Nursing program
• Unrestricted active license as Registered Professional Nurse through the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege
• At least three (3) years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) must be obtained within seven days of hire
• Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
• Must pass the following background checks
  • Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
  • Medical screenings (Physical, TB, and Drug test)
• The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
• Physical Requirements
  • Safely perform physical interventions (e.g., standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, and supporting another person’s weight)
  • Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast-paced environment
  • Work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior

It would be great if you had:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
• Familiarity with 302 Court Ordered Treatment processes
