The Operating Room RN provides skilled nursing care and continuous surveillance for patients during critical perioperative periods. They are responsible for administering physician orders and recognizing medical or surgical complications for immediate treatment.
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides planned and skilled nursing care for patients in the critical perioperative periods. The Operating Room RN provides assessment, patient surveillance, and timely administration of physician’s orders to prepare patients for procedures. The Operating Room RN provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of medical or surgical complications that may arise in any perioperative patient.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation certificate from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program, required
- Current MS state licensure, required
- ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications, required
- Experience in perioperative or critical care area, preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong discretion and ability to handle confidential information
- Composure in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies
- Dependable, punctual, and highly detail‑oriented
- Strong multitasking and independent‑work capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate documentation skills
- Ability to follow established workflows consistently
- Knowledge of surgery department procedures, infection control practices and emergency response protocols
