Job Description

Join a dynamic labor and delivery team where you'll make a profound difference during one of life's most transformative moments. As a Registered Nurse in our Labor, Delivery & Postpartum Care unit, you'll provide expert, compassionate nursing care that supports families through pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the early postpartum period. You'll leverage the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to deliver individualized care, coordinate with the healthcare team, and guide patients and families through this critical life event. Your clinical expertise, critical thinking, and collaborative communication will ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns while fostering a supportive environment for families during their most important moments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum nursing care, including fetal monitoring, labor support, and delivery assistance
• Assess and monitor maternal and neonatal vital signs, progress, and complications with keen clinical judgment
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans that address the unique needs of laboring patients and their families
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal specialists to ensure seamless, coordinated care
• Educate patients and families about labor progression, pain management options, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
• Delegate and supervise care activities while maintaining accountability for patient safety and quality outcomes
• Document comprehensive, accurate clinical records and communicate pertinent patient information to the healthcare team
• Identify variances from expected patient outcomes and actively participate in implementing evidence-based solutions
• Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and families during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and analytical capabilities required to develop evidence-based nursing care plans
• Proficiency in delivering comprehensive professional nursing services across diverse patient populations
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare personnel

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Current, valid licensure from the Michigan State Board of Nursing
• Current Health Care Provider BLS - Basic Life Support
