Registered Nurse Care Coordinator (RNCC) - Cancer Center, Fishersville (Wage)

Cancer care requires clinical skill, thoughtful coordination, and a steady presence for patients and families navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As a Registered Nurse Care Coordinator at UVA Health’s Cancer Center in Fishersville, you will help ensure patients receive connected, timely, and compassionate oncology care in a growing community-based setting.

You will work closely with providers, patients, families, and care teams to help guide treatment planning, coordinate next steps, and support a practice that is expanding to meet the needs of the community. 

The Role 

The Registered Nurse Care Coordinator supports oncology patients and providers by helping keep care plans moving efficiently, accurately, and compassionately. In this role, you will be part of a collaborative rural cancer care team supporting medical oncology and uro-oncology providers while helping patients and families feel informed, supported, and connected throughout their care journey. 

The practice is in a period of growth, with plans to expand from 9 exam rooms to 24, add additional providers, and continue increasing access to high-quality oncology care close to home. This wage position is best suited for someone who is comfortable with variable coverage needs, including a one-day-per-week schedule with additional hours as needed. Some weeks may offer more opportunities for coverage than others. 

In an average day, you may: 

• Support an in-office provider while assisting with coverage for other physicians and providers as needed. 

• Navigate Epic Beacon treatment plans, pending orders, and appointment requests. 

• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and the broader patient care team to help coordinate oncology care. 

• Help patients and families understand next steps, resources, and care plan logistics. 

• Support clinic flow and provider templates, including preparation that may be completed remotely based on operational need. 

• Contribute ideas to improve workflows, strengthen communication, and support a growing oncology practice. 

• Help deliver exceptional oncology care in a rural community setting, where patients can receive advanced care with a personal, team-centered approach. 

Nurses with oncology, triage, or hospice experience may find this role especially aligned with their background, though those experiences are preferred rather than required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

Experience: 1 year of registered nursing experience required, 3 years of related and relevant registered nursing experience strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required. Specialty Board Certification strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.

The pay range for this role is $41.26 - $54.52 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
