Radio Reading Service Program Supervisor

Summary
Manages the day-to-day operations of Radio Reading Service, including appropriate staffing levels of paid employees and volunteers, radio distribution, program development and scheduling, maintaining appropriate paperwork and meeting all reporting deadlines, performing broadcast operations to ensure live and prerecorded broadcasts are on the air, and assuring that the systems and equipment leading to the broadcasts are efficiently managed, maintained and operated.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate and discipline staff supervised by this position. Ensure staff perform in an ethical manner and that staff is adequately trained.
• Oversee the daily operation of broadcast and online streaming systems, ensuring content is transmitted and consistently. 
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues when possible, and collaborate with internal IT staff and external service providers to address more complex system interruptions. 
• Work with the Annual Fund & Community Engagement Manager to ensure volunteers meet the daily needs for broadcasts and that they have positive volunteer experience. Facilitate volunteer 
  participation; obtain voice samples, provide training, complete reviews, etc. 
• Obtain, prepare, and edit materials for on-air programming; Participate in on-air reading as needed.
• Ensure that station is ready for the day’s broadcast including sanitation of counters, desks, equipment, etc.
• Ensure that broadcast equipment is in good working order and communicate needs to Annual Fund & Community Engagement Manager.
• Manage Radio Reading Service budget, provide feedback, and long-range planning. 
• Ensure an adequate inventory of radios and the timely and efficient distribution of radios.
• Stay current of issues affecting radio reading services by participating in ORRS and IAAIS conference calls or other learning opportunities.
• Annually increase listenership by promoting Radio Reading and other GESMV services by periodically speaking to area groups, attending health and vision fairs, or meeting with professional organizations 
  and support groups.
• Ensure that reports are completed and submitted accurately and by stated deadlines.
• Maintain First Aid and CPR certification. 
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, HIPAA, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

•  Supervise Program Operators and Volunteer staff.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

Experience Requirements

• Supervisory experience, 1 to 3 years preferred.
• Experience in broadcasting field is preferred.

• Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
