Summary Description:

The Radiology Diagnostic Reporting Template & QA Analyst is responsible for creating, reviewing, editing, and quality-assuring diagnostic radiology report templates and speech-recognition-generated reports to support radiologist efficiency and reporting accuracy.

The role requires strong prior experience in radiology medical transcription, diagnostic report editing, and documentation review, with advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, English grammar, and radiology reporting workflows. A key responsibility is to ensure the appropriate report template is created or validated before it is presented to the radiologist, followed by review and editing of the report generated through speech-recognition technology.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Diagnostic Report Template Management

  • Create, select, edit, and QA diagnostic report templates within PowerScribe or other radiology reporting systems.
  • Validate templates before radiologist use to ensure the appropriate modality, anatomy, terminology, formatting, and required documentation elements are incorporated.
  • Support reporting templates across MRI, CT, PET, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and other radiology specialties.
  • Identify template inconsistencies, missing elements, or recurring issues and coordinate appropriate corrections.
  • Maintain standardized and accurate templates to improve radiologist efficiency and report consistency.

• Speech Recognition & Report Editing

  • Listen to recorded radiologist dictations and review reports generated through speech-recognition technology.
  • Validate speech-to-report accuracy.
  • Correct speech-recognition errors, spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and medical terminology.
  • Identify commonly confused medical terms and contextually incorrect language.
  • Review reports for completeness and consistency between dictated content and generated documentation.

• Documentation Quality Assurance

  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, discrepancies, and potential inaccuracies within diagnostic reports.
  • Validate appropriate anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and documentation structure.
  • Flag unclear or conflicting clinical information for radiologist clarification rather than independently modifying clinical interpretation.
  • Perform report and template quality audits in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Track recurring documentation, template, and speech-recognition issues and provide feedback for process improvement.

• Operational Delivery

  • Meet established productivity, accuracy, and turnaround-time requirements.
  • Respond to priority requests within defined service expectations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Partner with radiologists, reporting technology teams, and operational stakeholders as required.
  • Adapt to new reporting systems, templates, workflows, and technologies.

• Compliance

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, privacy, security, and documentation standards.
  • Follow client and organizational quality and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate audit documentation and quality records.

Skills and Education:

• 5+ years of medical transcription or diagnostic report-editing experience preferred.
• Direct Radiology medical transcription/reporting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical terminology
  • Radiology documentation
  • English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Experience supporting multiple radiology modalities.
• Experience reviewing speech-recognition-generated medical reports.
• Strong listening, proofreading, and medical-language editing skills.
• Ability to identify documentation discrepancies and determine when radiologist clarification is required.
• Ability to meet defined quality and turnaround-time expectations.
• Prior experience with PowerScribe 360 preferred.
• Experience with eRAD RIS, M*Modal, RamSoft, or comparable radiology reporting platforms.
• Experience creating or maintaining diagnostic report templates.
• Experience performing transcription or diagnostic-report quality audits.
• Formal training in medical transcription, anatomy, physiology, or medical terminology.
