Purchasing Agent

Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring and maintaining the inventory control of pharmaceuticals and supplies handled by the Department of Pharmacy Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• Graduate from a two-year college program with an Associates Degree or completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program

Minimum Experience/Skills:

1. 3 – 5 years related work experience – A minimum of three (3) years experience as a pharmacy technician or purchasing agent with familiarity with drug terminology and purchasing/inventory control procedures

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: None

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing/walking
• Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs of force.
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
• Manual dexterity and mobility
• Ability to move quickly

Vision Requirements: Must be able to differentiate colors (color coded packaging)

• Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
• Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)
• Emergency and crisis situations
• Subject to irregular hours
• Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries
