Overview: We are hiring a part-time Nursing Clinical Instructor to teach off-site clinicals and on-site labs of various Nursing Courses.

• Courses will be offered Face to Face for the 2026-27 Academic Year.  Fall term begins September 21, 2026.
• Pay is dependent upon individual credentials and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Skills Lab/Simulation and Clinical Environment:

• Responsible for teaching skill lab procedures according to established protocols and monitoring students’ performance of skill competencies. 
• Responsible for the maintenance of skills lab environment to ensure students learning needs are being met and maintenance of a safe learning environment.
• Responsible for the supervision and documentation of the student clinical experience. 
• Provide a professional clinical experience for students in their assigned professional clinical setting.

Teaching and Student Success: 

• Instruct students using approved course outcome guides and accurate syllabi.
• Prepare instructional materials as needed. 
• Meet all assigned classes. 
• Apply the colleges values for teaching and learning. 
• Facilitate learning that applies to students' academic and career goals. 
• Meet the curricular needs of students at various learning levels. 
• Encourage mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment. 
• Provide effective teaching strategies in an environment that encourages student and instructor interaction. 
• Actively engage students in the learning process. 
• Encourage creative and critical thinking. 
• Evaluate and grade student progress and systematically assess the program using meaningful indicators to assure currency, improve teaching and learning strategies, and achieve stated student learning outcomes for all students, including underrepresented students and first-generation college students. 
• Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and scholastic progress.
• Assess the achievement of student learning outcomes at the course, program, and institutional level.

Professional Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners. 
• Interact with students, staff, and administration in a professional manner. 
• Assure effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility. 
• Engage in a reasonable amount of student contact outside of instruction to respond to questions and to resolve course-related problems. 
• Complete required college trainings.
• Participation in professional development activities, department meetings, committee service, and shared governance initiatives to support the mission and goals of the College, are encouraged.

Compliance 

• Comply with published College Policies and Procedures. 
• Maintain a safe learning and working environment by following all laws, policies and procedures established by the College and through state and federal oversight.
• Maintain College safety standards in work areas; ensure that students are trained in good safety practices; and make reasonable efforts to ensure that students follow good safety practices.

• Use of media aids, the library, and other resources, as applicable.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any supervisory responsibility but may lead the work of Student, Volunteer, and/or Temporary Staff assigned to the area.

Leading Work includes:

• Train and orient new hires in position tasks.
• Provide instructions on work tasks.
• Offer guidance, encouragement, and answer questions to ensure work tasks are completed efficiently.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s in nursing program
• Candidate must possess current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse through the Oregon State Board of Nursing
• Minimum three years recent, demonstrated registered nursing experience. 
• Possess current healthcare provider CPR certification, evidence of required immunizations and any applicable certifications in subject matter domain and developments in field(s) of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supervising nursing students in a clinical setting.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. 
• Medical-surgical nursing practice in acute care settings within the past three years.  

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: 

• Complete assigned periods of clinical practice (7-12-hour shifts, days, evenings)
• Transfer patients/clients in and out of bed from stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Control a fall by slowly lowering client to the floor.
• Lift or move (turn, position) clients or objects, pull or push objects, weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Reach to shoulder or higher level to place or access equipment such as intravenous fluid bags, bend or squat to access equipment below bed level.
• Carry equipment and supplies to the client bedside.
• Be approved to teach at designated clinical site(s), this may include, drug screening, extended criminal background checks, additional vaccinations.
• Sit, see and talk or hear. 
• Have mobility to move between offices, classrooms, and floors.
• Use hands to finger, handle or operate computers, objects, tools or controls.
• Have vision and hearing abilities required by this job. 
• Hear the conversational voice and effectively communicate responses. 
• Work in an environment with potential for interruptions and background noise.

Assignment will include presence at all primary OCCC locations and may include evening and weekend work. Travel between College sites and other locations will be required. Occasional travel and overnight stays outside of Lincoln County may be required for training and other purposes.
