Responsibilities

Project Engineer

Remote - Travel Required

The Project Engineer leads the planning, design, execution, startup, and closeout of capital and reliability projects. This role coordinates cross-functional teams, contractors, equipment suppliers, and site stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and achieve expected business results. Responsibilities include equipment selection, facility and utility integration, construction management, project documentation, startup readiness, and operational handoff. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead capital projects from concept through startup and closeout.
• Develop project scope, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
• Manage equipment specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal resources.
• Track project milestones, risks, issues, and action items.
• Maintain project documentation, drawings, and turnover packages.
• Support FEL and Stage Gate deliverables and project governance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and food safety standards.
• Facilitate startup, operator training, and handoff to operations.
• Provide regular project status updates to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related engineering field.
• Experience managing capital projects in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of process equipment, utilities, automation, and construction management.
• Strong project scheduling, budgeting, and vendor management skills.
• Familiarity with FEL, Stage Gate, commissioning, and startup processes

This role will entail significant travel where the project engineer will assume the role of construction manager requiring the engineer to travel to various Shearers locations and for several weeks at a time.
