The Project Director, Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI) Program, provides leadership and oversight for grant-funded programs focused on improving health outcomes and reducing disparities among underserved communities. This position oversees program operations, grant compliance, staff supervision, community partnerships, and the development of transgender health and specialty sexual health services to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

   Program Leadership and Operations

Lead the implementation, management, and evaluation of assigned grants and special projects.

Direct the development, implementation, and growth of transgender health and specialty sexual health programs.

Establish program goals, objectives, and performance measures to ensure successful program outcomes.

Participate in long-range planning and strategic initiatives that support organizational priorities and community health needs.

Promote the use of evidence-based practices and continuous quality improvement methodologies.

Monitor program performance and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve established goals.

Develop systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting program data and outcomes.

   Budget and Financial Management

Assist in the development and administration of grant and program budgets.

Monitor expenditures and ensure funds are utilized in accordance with grant requirements and organizational policies.

Review financial reports and make recommendations to ensure fiscal responsibility and program sustainability.

   Grant and Contract Management

Manage grant requirements, reporting obligations, and contractual deliverables.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and funding agency regulations.

Prepare and submit comprehensive grant reports, program updates, and performance outcome reports.

Coordinate grant-related audits, site visits, evaluations, and monitoring activities.

   Community Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, community-based organizations, government agencies, advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders.

Facilitate the integration of specialty sexual health and transgender health services within the broader healthcare delivery system.

Represent the organization at community meetings, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.

Promote awareness and access to program services within the communities served.

   Staff Leadership and Development

Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate a diverse team of professional, paraprofessional, healthcare, and administrative staff.

Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management to support employee growth and accountability.

Conduct performance evaluations, competency assessments, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes as necessary.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that supports high-quality service delivery.

Identify training needs and ensure staff receive ongoing professional development opportunities.

   Quality Improvement and Compliance

Establish systems to monitor program quality, outcomes, and compliance.

Analyze performance data and develop action plans to improve program effectiveness and patient outcomes.

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, grant requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

Support organizational quality improvement initiatives and performance management activities.

   Additional Duties

Participate in agency-wide leadership and management activities.

Serve on internal committees and workgroups as assigned.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support organizational goals and operational needs.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in relevant field, MSW, MFT preferred

Basic healthcare systems operations, payment requirements and policies regarding the implementation of direct specialty sexual health care services

Working with high-level government and non-profit organizations with decision-making and problem solving skills to develop strategic partnerships

Minimum two years working with professional and clinical staff required; leadership, management ability and supervisory or managerial experience of a social service program

Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and understanding of complex community systems

Special Requirements

Must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed)

Valid California Driver License and automobile insurance coverage

Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment

TB clearance, to be renewed every year. COVID Vaccine and boosters as needed.
