Travel: 10-15%

Schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday - Friday, flexible to Saturdays   

Pay Range: $34.18-35.85

Help Strengthen Support for Staten Island Families

Vibrant Emotional Health’s Family & Youth Peer Support Services connect Staten Island families with advocates who understand what it is like to seek support for a child or young person and can help them navigate complicated systems, transportation challenges, long waits, and other barriers to care.

We are seeking a part-time Program Supervisor to provide effective supervision and development to Family and Youth Peer Advocates while building strong relationships with Staten Island organizations, providers, and community partners.

The ideal candidate understands family and youth peer support, knows Staten Island’s communities and service systems, and can help advocates grow, strengthen referral pathways, and connect more families with responsive, well-coordinated services.

Where You’ll Make a Difference

Supervision and Team Development

• Provide strengths-based supervision, coaching, and training to Family and Youth Peer Advocates
• Help staff maintain the values of peer support while meeting documentation, service, and program expectations
• Support staff in navigating complex family situations and maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Complete staff evaluations and identify professional-development needs
• Accompany advocates on home, office, and community visits when additional support is needed

Community Outreach and Partnerships

• Build trusted relationships with schools, healthcare providers, behavioral-health programs, community organizations, and referral partners
• Represent Vibrant and the Staten Island borough alliance at community and stakeholder meetings
• Increase awareness of Family & Youth Peer Support Services and help partners understand how to refer families
• Identify community needs, service gaps, and opportunities for collaboration
• Strengthen referral pathways so families can access support more easily

Program Coordination and Accountability

• Oversee referrals, case assignments, staff schedules, and program coverage
• Review electronic health record documentation and support timely, accurate recordkeeping
• Monitor service activity and assist with monthly Levels of Service and operational reporting
• Partner with the Data Analyst and program leadership to identify trends, service gaps, and opportunities for improvement

The strongest candidates will understand that Staten Island is not one single community. Families’ experiences can vary depending on neighborhood, culture, language, transportation access, financial resources, and their interactions with schools, healthcare, behavioral-health services, child welfare, and other systems.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Expertise navigating the children’s mental health and other child-serving systems

• Ability to direct and supervise a program and its staff

• Ability to gather data and submit reports

• Prior experience as Family Peer Advocate (FPA) will be a parent/caregiver of a child who has experienced social, emotional, developmental, substance use, and/or behavioral challenges and has ‘lived experience’ navigating multiple child serving systems on behalf of their child(ren) with social, emotional, developmental, health and/or behavioral healthcare needs. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Work flexible hours, as required

Required Qualifications:

• Experienced as a Family Peer Advocate (at least seven years) or Qualified Mental Health Professional with 3-years’ experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Candidates possessing exceptional skill but not all of the qualifications are also encouraged to apply

Physical Requirements:

• Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone, filing cabinets, photocopiers. Some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, program participants, service providers and other stakeholders

• Ability to remain calm and composed under stress

• Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation

We determine base pay through a comprehensive review of skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and other relevant factors. The range listed reflects the compensation parameters for the role and does not represent the full compensation package. A complete overview of compensation and benefits will be provided by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process.
