Rate of pay: $15-$18. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, prepare, and facilitate structured karate classes appropriate to participant age, experience, and skill level.
- Teach foundational and progressive karate techniques, including stances, movements, blocks, strikes, kicks, forms, and other skills appropriate to the program.
- Demonstrate techniques clearly and provide participants with appropriate instruction, correction, encouragement, and feedback.
- Modify activities and instruction as appropriate to accommodate different skill and developmental levels.
- Incorporate age-appropriate activities that keep participants engaged while supporting skill development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of karate fundamentals, techniques, terminology, and safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-lingual skills
- Additional qualifications specific to each program (such as certifications or degrees in dance, sports, or education)

YMCA Healthy Living Prevention Programs
Diabetes Prevention Program
A program for those who have prediabetes or are at high risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The Program is a year-long program, developed in conjunction with Indiana University and recognized by CDC, consists of 16-1 hour-sessions, followed by 6-8 monthly meetings. The classroom-based program is proven that by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a small amount of weight, a person with pre-diabetes who is overweight can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes .

Healthy Lifestyles Behavior Change Program
The program, developed with Stanford University, is a behavior change program where participants focus on one health goal for the duration of the program. In a classroom setting, participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over the course of 22 one-hour sessions. Improved self-confidence and achievement in accomplishing short- and long-term health goals are typical outcomes of the program.
