Rate of pay: $16.00 – $21.00. Final compensation is based on factors such as the skills, qualifications, and experience.
An Enrichment Program Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing enrichment programs that enhance the educational, creative, and recreational experiences of participants. These programs are designed to offer additional learning opportunities outside of the traditional curriculum, providing children, teens, with experiences that foster personal growth, creativity, leadership, and skills development.
Essential Responsibilities
- Chess specifics: ability to teach chess rules, piece movement, basic strategy and tactics in a fun, age-appropriate manner
- Create a curriculum or activity plan for each program, ensuring it is engaging and age appropriate.
- Adapt activities based on participant needs, interests, and feedback.
- Facilitate activities and provide instruction or supervision to participants during sessions.
- Track and monitor participant progress and feedback to assess the effectiveness of the programs
Minimum Qualifications
- High-school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in program development, education, or recreation (1-3 years preferred).
- Experience working with a variety of age groups (children, teens, adults) is a plus.
- Chess must have strong understanding of chess fundamentals and able to teach participants of all ages using proper technique and progression.
Preferred Qualifications
• Multi-lingual skills
• Additional qualifications specific to each program (such as certifications or degrees in dance, sports, or education, affiliation with or knowledge of US Chess Federation)

YMCA Healthy Living Prevention Programs
Diabetes Prevention Program
A program for those who have prediabetes or are at high risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The Program is a year-long program, developed in conjunction with Indiana University and recognized by CDC, consists of 16-1 hour-sessions, followed by 6-8 monthly meetings. The classroom-based program is proven that by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a small amount of weight, a person with pre-diabetes who is overweight can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes .

Healthy Lifestyles Behavior Change Program
The program, developed with Stanford University, is a behavior change program where participants focus on one health goal for the duration of the program. In a classroom setting, participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over the course of 22 one-hour sessions. Improved self-confidence and achievement in accomplishing short- and long-term health goals are typical outcomes of the program.
