Position Summary: 

The mission of the Program Presenter is to work with the Education team to create magical and memorable moments for families through performances and interactions, ensuring that every guest has an exceptional and engaging experience and that they leave the museum wanting to come back as soon as possible. 

Key Responsibilities:

In-House Education

• Perform engaging, memorized performances on STEAM, literacy, physical play, and other topics
• Individually interact with Guests to provide a personalized experience within the museum
• Perform daily operations (e.g. program set-up and re-set, cleaning costume pieces and props, checking supplies and quantities, recording attendance of programs.) 
• Help in the evaluation and enhancement of programs to ensure quality engagement 
• Assist with special characters as needed including handling and performing
• Train incoming staff on programs

Outreach Presenter

• Perform entertaining and educational outreach programs to target audiences with crowd sizes ranging from 5-300 individuals
• Keep all outreach materials and program inventory organized, cataloged, and stocked
• Represent OCM in-person during performances
• Work with Education team on the development of new programs and characters
• Assist with special characters as needed
• Train incoming staff on programs

 Museum w/o Wall Community Event Assistant

• Work with Education leadership to facilitate Museum without Walls events around the community
• Assist with set up, facilitation, and engagement during variety of festival events
• Keep all Museum without Walls materials inventoried, organized, cataloged, and stocked leading up to and immediately following event
• Interact with diverse audiences and represent OCM to the community

 Pre-event Planning and Assistance

• Work with Education department to ensure all materials for upcoming outreaches, programs, and special events are gathered and prepared and company vehicles are free of trash, loaded, and ready for upcoming outreaches and events
• Help ready the museum for upcoming special event weekends, including gathering supplies and costumes, hanging decorations, creating community craft examples, and the like
• Assist with the collection and inputting of monthly data related to programming and outreaches
• Communicate, as requested by Director of Education, upcoming outreach, MWoW, and programmatic needs to individuals outside the organization

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:

• Experience in Early Childhood Education, Museum Education, Informal Education, and/or Theater preferred
• Must enjoy working with the public and demonstrate friendliness, professionalism, enthusiasm, and a customer-focused approach
• Should possess excellent organizational skills, a considerable degree of initiative, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and timeliness in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work a weekday and weekend schedule
• Successful completion of a background check required
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with good record

• Comfortable in front of a crowd as small as 5 and as large as 300
• Experience and comfort driving pick-up truck with trailer preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

 Physical Qualification:

• Stand and walk for majority of shift to engage with visitors and program participants
• Navigate different areas of the Museum to assist visitors and ensure a positive experience
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and reach to conduct inventory and prepare for events
• Work outside in varying temperatures for up to 6 hours per event for up to 7 festivals annually and occasional outdoor outreach performances
• Perform repetitive tasks, including administrative work and entering data into computer software programs
• Push or pull equipment, such as a small flatbed and wheeled cases
• Lift and carry items up to 20 pounds alone, 80 pounds in a group, including educational materials, traveling exhibits, cleaning materials, etc…
• Must have weekend availability

Compensation: $16/hour, not benefit eligible
