OVERVIEW:

Welcome to Product Management at DICK'S Sporting Goods, where we specialize in delivering retail excellence along every aspect of the Athlete journey. Our mission focuses on crafting intuitive, easy-to-use products that span across our business, while protecting the trust Athletes place in our digital and omni-channel experiences.

As a Product Manager II supporting Digital Fraud, you will help safeguard Athletes and orders by proactively detecting, preventing, and responding to fraudulent activity across digital channels while enabling seamless and trusted shopping experiences. You will partner closely with Business Partners, Engineering and Architecture across Digital Loss Prevention, Payments, eCommerce, Mobile App, Stores, Treasury, Sales Audit, Cyber Security, and Loyalty. This role will manage the product ecosystem, inclusive of third-party vendors, to balance fraud prevention, conversion, customer experience, operational efficiency, and platform resiliency.

This role is accountable for shaping and delivering Digital Fraud capabilities across the order lifecycle, from account and device signals through pre-authorization risk checks, post-order fraud review, fulfillment, reship/refund monitoring, chargeback management, and continuous rule and signal optimization.

What You Will Own in Digital Fraud

  • Define and maintain a Digital Fraud product roadmap that aligns to business outcomes, portfolio priorities, fraud-risk reduction, conversion protection, and trusted Athlete experiences.

  • Lead discovery and solutioning for fraud capabilities such as pre-authorization fraud checks, post-order decisioning, device fingerprinting, reject/recycle, chargeback automation, fraud data foundations, and fraud lifecycle improvements.

  • Translate business needs from Digital Loss Prevention, Payments, eCommerce, Mobile App, Treasury, Sales Audit, Store Ops, Loyalty, and other partners into clear product outcomes, user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans.

  • Own KPI definition and measurement for the product domain, including fraud loss, cancel and chargeback trends, accept/reject/manual-review performance, demand-to-fulfillment impact, SLA/SLO considerations, false positives, operational friction, and customer experience impacts.

  • Partner with other Product Managers, Engineering, Architecture, Data Product, Analytics, and Reliability partners to improve observability, monitoring, automated testing, system resiliency, and data-driven decisioning.

  • Collaborate with vendors and internal platform teams to evaluate, pilot, implement, and continuously optimize fraud and risk capabilities while managing dependencies, contracts, and delivery risks.

  • Design and evaluate controlled experiments, A/B tests, and phased rollouts to measure fraud performance, conversion impacts, and operational outcomes.

  • Improve upstream engagement so Digital Fraud is included early in planning for new experiences, payment methods, loyalty programs, fulfillment changes, and AI/agentic commerce opportunities.

  • Evaluate and support machine learning, behavioral analytics, and AI-driven fraud detection capabilities while balancing explainability, governance, and customer experience.

  • Monitor fraud, retail, digital commerce, and payment trends to proactively identify emerging risk patterns and shape product strategy before issues become reactive operational escalations.

  • Monitor emerging fraud vectors including account takeover, promotion abuse, synthetic identities, bot attacks, and credential stuffing.

  • Participate in fraud-related incident response, major issue management, and post-incident reviews. Help drive corrective actions following production incidents, fraud spikes, chargeback events, or vendor service disruptions.

Systems, Platforms & Capabilities to Understand

As the Product Manager in this domain, you must be comfortable learning how fraud data, order events, risk signals, payment flows, and operational workflows connect across a complex retail ecosystem.

Area & Systems / Capabilities

Fraud decisioning & review

Riskified, Accertify; Signifyd reject/recycle; manual review workflows; fraud rules; risk thresholds; whitelists; Digital LP review processes

Device, identity & signal enrichment

Device fingerprinting; Accertify JavaScript library; Athlete Record / scorecard data; Auth0 data opportunities; Akamai Edge Security; risk velocity rules

Payments & chargebacks

Adyen; PayPal; Affirm; AfterPay; ApplePay; payment authorization adjacency; chargeback evidence; dispute defense; Sales Audit partnership

Order lifecycle platforms

Cart & Checkout; eCommerce web; Mobile iOS/Android; AOS; SolePanel / ACT; Athlete Order; Fulfillment / Omni Shopping; Shipping; returns and post-order adjustments

Operational resilience & engineering excellence

Grafana dashboards; LinearB; C4 and Miro architecture/process views; SLA/SLO and observability practices; automated testing; POC-to-implementation readiness

Product management, planning & delivery tools

Aha! Roadmaps; Jira; Agile ceremonies; integrated roadmaps; backlog refinement; sprint planning; demos; retrospectives; release and validation plans

Product Strategy

You will define and evolve a roadmap for Digital Fraud in close collaboration with technology peers, Digital Loss Prevention, Payments, eCommerce, Cart & Checkout, Mobile, Athlete Order, Treasury, Sales Audit, Security, and other stakeholders. The roadmap should be outcome-based and grounded in the voice of the product, balancing fraud protection, athlete trust, conversion, operational impact, and platform resiliency.

In this space, strategy requires thinking across the full fraud lifecycle: account creation and monitoring, device and identity signals, pre-authorization checks, bank/payment response, post-purchase fraud review, reject/recycle, fulfillment, returns, reships, chargebacks, and loss prevention operations.

Data-Driven Decisions

You will establish metrics and measurements for the Digital Fraud product domain to report on value delivered and inform roadmap prioritization. You will use leading and lagging indicators such as fraud loss, chargebacks, manual review rate, cancel trends, order volume, accept/reject/review mix, false positives, SLA/SLO impacts, demand-to-fulfillment outcomes, and operational workload to guide product iteration and trade-off decisions.

You will partner with Data Product, Analytics, Engineering, Digital LP, and business stakeholders to improve data quality, reporting, root-cause analysis, and proactive trend identification so Digital Fraud can move from reactive issue response toward proactive risk monitoring and prevention.

Testing and Research

Lean experimentation is a core value within a product team. You will aid in the formulation of hypotheses and coordinate pilots, proofs of concept, prototypes, vendor evaluations, and research that validate whether new fraud capabilities reduce business risk while preserving athlete conversion and experience.

Examples include evaluating device fingerprinting, pre-authorization fraud checks, secondary fraud review, reject/recycle flows, chargeback automation, and enhanced order or athlete signals before scaling implementation.

Delivery

Part of the job is to manage the backlog. You will create effective user stories, lead backlog prioritization and management, validate delivery with engineers, perform product testing, ensure acceptance criteria are met, capture bugs, and work toward defect resolution.

Digital Fraud delivery requires strong dependency management across payment processing, order placement, fulfillment, loyalty, customer service communications, Digital LP workflows, vendor integrations, and peak-season operational readiness. You will create and communicate release plans, risk assessments, go/no-go criteria, production validation plans, and operational readiness details for changes that affect fraud decisioning or athlete order flow.

Team Collaboration

Working as a team is essential for success. You will actively participate in standups, planning sessions, demos, retrospectives, stakeholder touchpoints, monthly portfolio or business syncs, and vendor discussions. You will act as a translator between business risk, operational workflows, technology constraints, fraud controls, analytics, and athlete experience outcomes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy - How you understand and plan within a product team that solves customer problems and drives business impact

  • Form Strategy & Prioritize Work: Build and maintain the Digital Fraud roadmap collaboratively based on measurable business and technology outcomes; prioritize fraud capabilities and platform improvements aligned to fraud prevention, athlete trust, conversion, operational efficiency, and resiliency; use KPI evidence to weigh tradeoffs such as false positives, fraud loss, chargeback reduction, approval rates, SLA impact, and engineering capacity; clearly explain why work was prioritized.

  • Identify Opportunities: Lead discovery exercises with Digital LP, Payments, eCommerce, Cart & Checkout, Mobile, Athlete Order, Store Ops, Treasury, Sales Audit, Security, Engineering, and vendors; use fraud, payment, order, device, account, chargeback, customer service, and operational data to identify pain points; monitor production issues, manual review trends, cancels, chargebacks, and emerging fraud trends; conduct market and vendor research; work with the Group Product Manager to prioritize based on value, risk, capacity, dependencies, and timing.

  • Form & Track KPIs/Metrics: Define KPIs and product objectives in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders; measure adoption, usage, operational workload, risk reduction, fraud loss, chargebacks, manual review, order flow, and business impact of launches to prove ROI; use evidence-based influencing skills and build reporting narratives that connect delivery to measurable outcomes and leadership decisions.

Execution - How you support and provide oversight to the design and delivery of solutions to our customers

  • Enlist & Enable Stakeholders: Conduct stakeholder identification workshops and maintain stakeholder maps for Digital Fraud capabilities, vendor touchpoints, business owners, and technology dependencies; create and communicate standard touchpoints with Digital LP, Payments, Sales Audit, Treasury, eCommerce, Cart & Checkout, Mobile, Athlete Order, Security, and other impacted teams; build shared understanding of Digital Fraud’s role in the order lifecycle so teams engage early and minimize unplanned work; translate fraud-risk needs into actions for business, engineering, analytics, and vendors.

  • Deliver Products/Features: Proactively identify dependencies and mitigate risky assumptions across systems, vendors, business processes, and peak readiness; identify and communicate shipping risks including athlete experience, conversion, SLA, operational workload, resiliency, and compliance considerations; build release plans that clarify who is impacted, what changes, when it launches, how it will be validated, and how production outcomes will be monitored; build story maps and user stories that articulate required fraud signals, integrations, decisioning logic, data flows, and operational workflows; perform validation for releases, bug fixes, vendor integrations, fraud rules, and feature requests; troubleshoot defects and participate in root-cause analysis.

  • Operate as a Trusted Domain Partner: Collaborate with third-party vendors on day-to-day activities to ensure successful product experiences and measurable outcomes; lead or support sprint planning, iteration planning, backlog refinement, demos, retrospectives, and stakeholder readouts; run experimental, beta, pilot, and POC programs with early-stage fraud capabilities and support transition from pilot to implementation when value is proven.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates for this role should have:

  • An intermediate understanding of Product Management and the product lifecycle.

  • Understanding of digital commerce, payments, fraud prevention, risk management, or high-scale operational platforms.

  • Familiarity with systems or vendors such as Accertify, Signifyd, Adyen, Appriss, TransUnion, Akamai, Auth0, Aha!, Jira, Grafana, LinearB, Miro, or comparable tools.

  • Ability to understand how fraud decisioning, payment authorization, order placement, fulfillment, returns, reships, and chargebacks connect across the customer journey.

  • Knowledge of human-centered design principles and ability to balance fraud controls with athlete experience, conversion, trust, and operational efficiency.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and foundational Scrum/Agile practices.

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching products or features that deliver measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong analytical mindset and comfort using data to define KPIs, identify trends, diagnose defects, and inform prioritization.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority across product, engineering, architecture, business, operations, analytics, security, and vendor partners.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to translate complex technical, risk, and operational concepts into concise stakeholder-ready narratives.

  • Strong deductive reasoning skills, curiosity, and desire to learn a complex domain with real-time operational impact.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with various peer groups and business partners.

  • Experience working with third-party vendors, contracts, pilots, proofs of concept, implementation planning, and performance monitoring.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience preferred, including 2-5 years with relevant education linked to product management, or 7+ years without relevant education linked to product management.

  • Ecommerce or relevant experience, product management or digital strategy with retail preferred, mobile or enterprise commerce platforms.
