In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations of patients in numerous units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. Here, you may interact with caregivers and providers across all inpatient units and may occasionally float to the Emergency Department (ED). As an RN on the Float Pool team, you will deliver exceptional care to all patients that you have the chance to care for. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Because you will floating between units, an RN in this role should easily be able to adapt to changing assignments and be comfortable transitioning between different units throughout the shift.

A PRN caregiver in this position works variable days and hours. Preferred shifts are 3:00PM – 11:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30AM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide direct nursing care. 

• Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. 

• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

• Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program) 

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

• External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience  

• Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants  

• Will consider licensed military RN experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

• ED, Med/Surg and/or ICU experience 

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
