PRN PARAMEDIC

Koniag Operations Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a PRN Paramedic to support KOS and our government customer in Anniston, AL. This is an SCA position.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with patients, coworkers, and partner agencies.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) care as authorized and under the general supervision of the Lead Paramedic (Supervisor).
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical calls to assess, treat, and/or transport patients to appropriate medical facilities. 
• Establish and maintain phone or radio communication with receiving facilities and medical direction to relay patient information and obtain treatment guidance.
• Independently perform all paramedic-level duties in accordance with state of Alabama Paramedic Protocols and the Alabama EMS Rules and Regulations
• Maintain required documentation, including patient care reports, operational logs, and activity summaries, in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Operate and maintain site treatment rooms for assessment and care of sick or injured individuals, including those requiring first aid, acute care, palliative care, or occupational health evaluation.
• Assist with providing medical treatment for illnesses or injuries related to exposure to chemical or biological agents at the Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, Radiological Training Facility (COBRATF).
• Perform medical evaluations of individuals unable to participate in training due to illness, injury, or other conditions.
• Refer students or employees to private healthcare providers when non‑training‑related medical issues require further evaluation or follow‑up.
• Inspect, operate, and maintain emergency vehicles and medical equipment to ensure proper readiness and safe operating conditions.
• Monitor, manage, and replenish medical supplies and maintain medical facilities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Represent the department during various organizational activities and assist with departmental functions as assigned.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen.
• Possess and maintain a current, unrestricted National Registry Paramedic Certification and State of Alabama Paramedic License.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification (must be obtained prior to start date if not currently active).
• Completion of driver training as required under ADPH EMS Rule 420-2-1-.15. (A clean and compliant driving record is required.)
• Ability to successfully pass law enforcement and financial background checks necessary to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Ability to meet and maintain all essential physical, agility, and dexterity requirements for the duration of employment.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and Carry: Must be able to lift 125–175 pounds (mannequin) onto a stretcher, secure the load, and safely place it into an ambulance.

• Rapid Stair Climb: Must climb three flights of stairs and return to the starting point within three minutes while carrying 40 pounds of equipment (two 20‑pound dumbbells or a 40‑pound backpack).

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Must be able to wear PPE, including an air‑purifying respirator, for extended periods.

Agility Requirements

Must be able to:

• Kneel, bend, and twist the body.

• Move quickly through confined areas and maneuver around obstacles.

Manual Dexterity

• Must possess the ability to make coordinated, precise hand and finger movements to administer medical care safely and effectively.

• Must be able to operate a variety of medical instruments requiring high precision to prevent further injury, depending on the patient’s condition.

Vision Requirements

• Must have good or correctable vision, including the ability to distinguish colors.

Special Requirements

• Paramedics are subject to pre‑placement medical screening for healthcare professionals, as well as periodic medical evaluations. These may include assessments related to respiratory protection and the ability to wear a respirator.
