Privacy Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Privacy Manager based in the United States.

This role will serve as a key bridge between Legal, Technology, Product, Engineering, IT, and Security teams.
You will translate complex privacy regulations and organizational requirements into practical processes, controls, and technical solutions.
A major initial focus will be supporting wearable technology initiatives and embedding privacy throughout the product lifecycle.
You will lead privacy-by-design efforts, assessments, risk remediation, and compliance initiatives across cross-functional teams.
The position combines regulatory expertise, program management, technical communication, and hands-on collaboration with product and engineering stakeholders.
You will help build scalable privacy practices that protect personal information while enabling efficient product development and innovation.

Accountabilities

• Partner with Legal to interpret privacy laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and translate them into practical business and technical requirements.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, IT, and Security teams to implement privacy controls and operational processes.

• Lead privacy-by-design initiatives throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Serve as the primary privacy program manager for wearable technology initiatives, ensuring privacy requirements are incorporated into product architecture, workflows, and deployment plans.

• Conduct and facilitate Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

• Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve privacy policies, standards, procedures, and operational frameworks.

• Coordinate cross-functional activities related to privacy risks, remediation plans, compliance requirements, and ongoing program improvements.

• Partner with Information Security on data governance, classification, retention, and privacy-related incident response activities.

• Monitor developments in privacy regulations and industry practices and recommend updates to internal processes and controls.

• Support privacy assessments of vendors and third parties as part of broader risk management activities.

• Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness initiatives to strengthen compliance across the organization.

• Track privacy program performance and help ensure privacy reviews and compliance activities are completed efficiently without unnecessarily delaying product delivery.

• Promote clear ownership, accountability, and operational processes for privacy compliance across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Legal Studies, or a related discipline.

• 5+ years of professional experience in privacy, information governance, compliance, cybersecurity, product management, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience working across legal and technical teams to operationalize privacy requirements.

• Working knowledge of major privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA where applicable, and emerging privacy laws.

• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

• Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business and technical requirements.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when communicating privacy concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong risk assessment, stakeholder management, process improvement, and change management skills.

• Familiarity with data governance and privacy program management principles.

• Professional privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or Certified Information Privacy Manager are preferred.

• Experience with connected devices, IoT, digital health, wearable technology, or consumer technology products is preferred.

• Familiarity with software development lifecycles, cloud platforms, APIs, identity management, and data governance is advantageous.

• Experience implementing Privacy by Design principles within Agile product development environments is preferred.
