The Opportunity 

We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Oportun’s flagship, AI-powered Savings product. Savings is an important driver of member growth and retention, giving this role significant influence over the future of our financial health platform and how we help members build stronger financial futures.

You’ll lead the ideation, development, launch, and scaling of new products and features while partnering closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Support. This role reports to the Vice President & General Manager for Savings and Mobile. Candidates located in Central or Eastern time zones are strongly preferred to support team and stakeholder collaboration.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day

• You’ll lead the long-term product strategy and roadmap for Oportun’s Savings product in partnership with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
• You’ll scope and lead the development of new products and features designed to improve members’ financial health and strengthen growth and retention.
• You’ll use customer research, experimentation, data, and product metrics to build a deep understanding of member needs and behaviors and translate those insights into product decisions.
• You’ll lead a high-performing cross-functional product team across Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Support to bring new capabilities to market.
• You’ll drive alignment across teams and leadership through clear communication, thoughtful documentation, and strong product judgment.
• You’ll navigate complex legal and regulatory considerations while keeping the team focused on member outcomes and execution.
• You’ll bring ideas for how we can do things better, proactively, not just when asked.
• You’ll look for ways to use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate product discovery, improve decision-making, reduce manual work, and create stronger member experiences.

What You Bring

Skills & experience

Required

• 7+ years of product management experience, including experience building and scaling products in high-growth environments.
• A strong track record of defining product strategy, building roadmaps, and shipping products that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
• Strong customer orientation and a passion for building products that improve financial health.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with experimentation, product metrics, data analysis, and data-informed decision-making.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional product teams and building alignment across Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Legal, Customer Support, and senior leadership.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex product decisions clearly and concisely.
• Experience navigating ambiguity, removing blockers, and driving execution across complex product initiatives.

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services, fintech, digital banking, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience launching products within complex legal or regulatory frameworks.
• Experience using SQL or similar tools to support product analysis and decision-making.
• Experience working with globally distributed or multinational teams.
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar tools to improve product discovery, analysis, or productivity.

The US salary range for this full-time position is $ 148,100 - $ 237,000

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects a national minimum and maximum range for new hire salaries for this position.
