Principal Product Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Product Manager based in United States.

This senior individual contributor role offers the opportunity to lead some of the most complex software initiatives across a sophisticated clinical and genomic technology portfolio. You’ll own end-to-end product strategy and execution, connecting commercial priorities with real-world workflows across laboratory, clinical, and customer-facing teams. The role requires strong systems thinking, technical depth, and the ability to translate complex scientific and operational needs into scalable software solutions. You’ll drive roadmap alignment and product excellence through influence rather than formal authority across Engineering, R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Quality, and Regulatory teams. You’ll also help pioneer AI-native product development using LLMs and generative AI to accelerate discovery and delivery. This is a high-impact environment where you’ll shape products that support reliable workflows and ultimately contribute to better patient care.

Accountabilities:

• Define and execute multi-year product strategies and roadmaps for critical software initiatives, balancing rapid innovation with long-term commercial stability.
• Act as a product architect by translating broad business objectives into detailed functional workflows and maintaining end-to-end solution cohesion.
• Own the full product lifecycle across interconnected systems, from order ingestion and laboratory execution through patient reporting.
• Translate complex scientific, clinical, operational, and technical requirements into robust and scalable product specifications.
• Develop a deep understanding of internal and external users by engaging directly with customers and observing laboratory and clinical operations.
• Apply systems thinking to understand how upstream product and architectural decisions affect downstream workflows, clinical outcomes, and reporting.
• Lead product backlogs, Agile ceremonies, prioritization, and delivery activities to ensure high-quality features reach users on schedule.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, R&D, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Commercial, and PMO teams through influence and technical credibility.
• Incorporate LLMs and generative AI into product discovery, requirements synthesis, workflow automation, and product development practices.
• Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure products meet applicable standards and requirements, including FDA design controls, IEC 62304, and HIPAA.
• Identify product risks proactively and establish mitigation strategies, documentation, and controls without unnecessarily slowing development.
• Mentor Senior Product Managers and cross-functional colleagues in product management, Agile practices, and user-centered design.
• Foster a culture of accountability, technical rigor, continuous improvement, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Champion high-agency decision-making by creating clarity and momentum in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of product management experience in high-scale software, biotech, or similarly complex environments, with a demonstrated ability to operate at Director-level scope.
• Proven experience building and launching new software products from the ground up in a startup, innovation, or internal incubator environment.
• Deep experience working in highly regulated industries, with knowledge of frameworks and requirements such as FDA design controls, HIPAA, IEC 62304, or ISO standards.
• Experience in HealthTech, MedTech, genomics, or another regulated healthcare environment is highly advantageous.
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand complex architectures involving APIs, microservices, LIMS, data platforms, and event-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience using LLMs and generative AI tools to accelerate product workflows, requirements generation, product discovery, or operational insights.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and influence executive-level stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build consensus, and align stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
• Strong systems-level thinking, with the ability to understand relationships between architectural decisions, operational workflows, and downstream outcomes.
• Strong user-centric mindset and experience validating products against real-world customer, clinical, or laboratory needs.
• High degree of ownership, initiative, urgency, adaptability, and comfort operating with incomplete information.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical, scientific, or quantitative discipline; MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
