How you’ll make an impact:

The Principal Architect for Subscriber Management System (SMS) will lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of core subscriber management, billing, and business feature initiatives supporting SiriusXM’s satellite and streaming subscription services. This role serves as a technical leader responsible for defining architecture strategy, guiding enterprise solution delivery, and enabling scalable business capabilities across the SMS ecosystem. This role exercises wide latitude in determining objectives, technical approaches, and architecture standards for critical SMS initiatives with broad organizational visibility. This role will drive modernization, scalability, performance optimization, and integration initiatives across Oracle BRM and related enterprise systems while partnering closely with engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic enterprise solutions. The role creates formal technical networks with key decision makers across Technology, Product, Finance, Operations, and business teams to align architecture decisions with subscriber lifecycle reliability, billing accuracy, revenue enablement, customer experience, compliance, and operational resilience.

SMS is the enterprise platform supporting subscriber management, billing, provisioning, payment processing, and revenue management for SiriusXM’s satellite and streaming subscription services. The SMS engineering team collaborates with cross-functional partners to extend and customize Oracle BRM through custom business logic, pricing and rating configurations, and integrations with upstream and downstream enterprise systems. The team participates across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, Agile development, deployment, and production support. As the principal architecture authority for SMS, this role anticipates internal business, technology, and regulatory challenges and recommends product, platform, process, and service improvements that advance future-state subscription capabilities.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of Subscriber Management System (SMS) applications and services across critical, enterprise-scale programs with broad visibility and material impact to subscription, billing, payment, provisioning, and revenue operations.
• Design and implement scalable, high-performance solutions using Oracle BRM and related technologies, while defining architecture patterns, technical principles, and modernization roadmaps for the SMS ecosystem.
• Develop and enhance custom opcodes, policy opcodes, pricing configurations, and real-time rating solutions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, Finance, and Operations to deliver enterprise-scale solutions and influence senior decision makers on architecture tradeoffs, delivery risks, and long-term platform strategy.
• Drive integration initiatives with upstream and downstream systems, including payment gateways, taxation systems, provisioning systems, and customer platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams while promoting engineering best practices. Mentor architects, senior engineers, and technical leads across SMS and adjacent enterprise technology teams.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, performance tuning, and troubleshooting production issues.
• Lead technical estimation, solution planning, and Agile delivery activities for short- and mid-term outcomes that require independent judgment, creativity, and cross-functional alignment.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, maintainability, and security compliance.
• Support production deployments, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Establish and lead SMS architecture governance, design review forums, and reusable engineering standards that improve consistency, reliability, performance, and maintainability across the platform.
• Evaluate future concepts, products, and technologies for subscriber management, billing, rating, payments, provisioning, cloud modernization, and enterprise integration, and translate recommendations into actionable architecture strategies.
• Serve as a recognized technical authority for SMS architecture in executive-level discussions, roadmap planning, and high-impact issue resolution.

What you’ll need:

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of enterprise software development and architecture experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 6 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience with Oracle BRM including real-time rating, pricing configuration, billing and invoicing, policy opcode modification, and custom opcode development.
• Demonstrated expertise in opcode development following best practices for memory management and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, enterprise integrations, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerization, Kubernetes, or modernization initiatives is a plus.
• Strong software development skills in C, SQL, Python, and Java within Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience integrating with payment processors/gateways such as Paymentech or Worldpay.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications in production environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and coding assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, Gemini, or Codex CLI.
• Expert ability to resolve critical technical issues and broad design matters across complex enterprise platforms, with deep SMS and Oracle BRM expertise and broad knowledge of adjacent enterprise disciplines.
• Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and creativity in ambiguous, high-impact assignments where architecture decisions affect customer experience, billing accuracy, revenue operations, compliance, and platform resilience.
• Demonstrated ability to build formal networks with key technical and business decision makers and influence architecture strategy across multiple teams or functions.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
