Preschool Substitute Teacher

Job Summary

Provide a warm, nurturing, and faith-centered learning environment for preschool students while supporting the classroom teacher and maintaining a safe, structured classroom. Responsibilities include supervising and engaging children in age-appropriate activities, assisting with daily routines, reinforcing positive behavior, and supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development. Demonstrate patience, flexibility, professionalism, and respect for the Catholic school’s mission and values while serving as a positive role model for young children.

Job Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school areas as assigned
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and respectful classroom environment
• Encourage appropriate student behavior consistent with school expectations and Catholic values
• Take attendance and complete any required classroom records or reports
• Communicate effectively with school administration and staff regarding classroom needs or concerns
• Adapt to varying grade levels, subject areas, and classroom routines as needed
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and school matters
• Follow all diocesan, school, and emergency procedures and policies

Job Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
• Ability to follow written lesson plans and directions
• Dependable, flexible, and professional demeanor
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
• Practicing Catholic preferred but not required
