The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides mental health care services to adult, children and adolescents consistent with acquired education, and in keeping with the Mississippi Nurse Practice Act. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner must also demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrate knowledge, expertise and confidence to seek assistance from the physician in decisions, when necessary
Demonstrate knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral
Demonstrate an awareness of patient wait times
Maintain accurate clinical records in a timely manner
Maintain patient confidentiality
Maintain patient privacy during exams
Adheres to the organizations productivity standards
Facilitate patient flow through the center
Prioritizes delivery of care according to the individual needs of the patient
Recognizes and accommodates patient’s financial situation when ordering test or procedures
Demonstrate an attitude with regard to patients as one of respect, honesty, caring and professionalism at all times
Provide appropriate follow-up according to a patient’s condition
Recognize cultural differences in the delivery of patient care
Demonstrate an ability to work as a member of the health care team
Interact with appropriate personnel from the hospitals and other agencies in a professional manner
Provide accurate and appropriate information to others when requested
Participate in quality assurance process
Adhere to the proper enforcement of CLIA and OSHA requirements
Rotate to provide service at other clinics as needed
Maintain licensure and certification as required by the job description
Attend continuing education and in-service training meetings
Demonstrate professionalism at all times when representing the organization
Cooperatively with administration to facilitate practice regulations and policies
Communicate with the clinic staff appropriately
Maintain prompt and regular attendance
Verify timecard at the end of each pay period
Performs related work, as assigned
Adhere to the internet, electronic mail and computer policies
Must be flexible and willing to float to other clinic locations as needed to support operational needs, ensure adequate coverage, and maintain quality patient care
Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline
QualificationsJob Requirements:
Registered Nurse who is currently licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi
Graduate of an accredited psychiatric nurse practitioner program and licensed by the State of Mississippi with an approved protocol
Certified by the ANCC or AANP as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse by the Mississippi Board of Nursing
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
Provider skills are maintained by attending continuing education meetings as required by the Mississippi Board of Nursing
Two plus years of experience is preferred
Maintain accurate clinical records, both written and electronic, in a timely manner
Provide primary health care services in accordance with accepted standards of care and approved protocols
Exercise best clinical judgment in the provision of care
Consult with appropriate provider in those areas of medical practice which requires special judgment, consultation or individual discretion
Report any events or circumstances which hinders delivery of quality health care
Participates in community service activities
Physical and Other Requirements:
Capable of performing a complete history and physical
Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs
