Plumbing Instructor Substitute

This position is for a substitute position which will include performing the core responsibilities, on an as-needed basis and supporting the function of the departmental needs.

Instruct students in Plumbing service and repair with a customer service focus
Lecture and laboratory instruction focusing on up-to-date Industry Equipment
Perform a variety of instructional assistance, tutoring and related support functions if needed
Document student grades and attendance, have a working knowledge of Canvas and Transcript
Support student retention by reviewing individual completion of learning activities, monitoring attendance and contacting students as necessary
Demonstrate systemic problem-solving strategies in the Plumbing service setting
Prepare students to pursue Plumbing journeyman’s licensure
Be familiar with current accrediting bodies and program societies i.e. ABHES, ACCSC, CIB, and OSHA 
Demonstrate accurate use of trade-specific jargon
Instruct in process-specific specialized Plumbing equipment and tools
Instruct students in safe service practices
Maintain tools, equipment, and other assets pursuant to maintenance, storage and security procedures
Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes
Maintain equipment and other assets pursuant to maintenance, storage, and security procedures
Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior
Strong desire to see students succeed in the Plumbing industry
Work on administrative duties in a timely manner
Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written
Monitor and assist with a variety of laboratory activities for students at various levels of proficiency
Model the College Mission, and CARES philosophy, incorporating professional and ethical standards 
Advocates for and supports the college through extracurricular activities and attending events and meetings, as required (e.g., Graduation Ceremonies, Fundraising events, Open houses, Faculty Forums, Team/Department Meetings, etc.)
Attend graduation ceremonies and participate in school-sponsored activities
Complete a minimum of two professional developments and two in-services
Other duties as assigned
Reports directly to the Department Head
Qualifications: Plumbing Instructor 

Minimum Requirements:  

A minimum of three years of verified occupational experience in the field of Plumbing. A valid Oklahoma Journeyman’s License or Unlimited Contractor License is a compliance requirement. College degree preferred. Teaching experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

As a professional in the Plumbing industry you will use your career experience to educate students for entry-level employment as an Plumber, with the focus on installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in accordance with industry safety standards. The Program combines theory with practical hands-on training designed to simulate the actual work environment and skills needed to excel in this field. Instruction will combine classroom and hands-on lab training. Instructors are responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each student. Instructors will manage the classroom and lab environment and promote a positive and engaging learning experience. The Plumbing Instructor must possess highly developed interpersonal skills, good time management and organizational skills, have energy, creativity and show initiative.
