Summary
The phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing laboratory specimens while maintaining accurate patient records in Meditech. They also perform patient assessments and assist in training new employees and students under supervisor direction.
Job Description
Purpose:
Collects and processes blood and other laboratory samples; enters physician orders in Meditech accurately; accurately labels and processes specimens; maintains confidentiality for patient data; and displays a professional image and attitude when performing ALL duties/responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Collects and processes laboratory specimens.
- Performs Patient Assessment.
- Maintains and practices professionalism.
- Assist in training new or current employees & students as requested under the direction of supervisor/administrative staff.
- Informs section supervisor of problems noted in an individual's training process.
- *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- *Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate with sufficient knowledge of English, Spelling, Typing, and Math. Certification in Phlebotomy preferred.
- Some phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Completion of Phlebotomy training through an accredited program.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
