PHARMACY - PHARMACIST

Job Details: Job Location: Hospital Main Campus - Idaho Falls, ID, Position Type: Temporary, Education Level: Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Category: Health Care, Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Clinical Pharmacist - NICU/Pediatric to join our team! 

JOB SUMMARY: Interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. Acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the related duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Reviews prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and determines formulas and ingredients needed.
2. Compounds medications using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
3. Monitors all posting onto the patient profiles in order that accuracy, drug allergies, drug interactions, duplicate therapy and incompatibilities may be realized and better patient care received.
4. Checks patient medication orders prior to delivery to patient care areas to ascertain that the correct drug, dosage form, schedule and strength is being dispensed.
5. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
6. Prepares IV admixtures and extemporaneous parenteral products under aseptic conditions.
7. Directs Pharmacy Department personnel engaged in admixing, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals.
8. Answers questions and provides information to physicians, nurses, patients and other healthcare professionals on the appropriate use of medications, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, storage, etc.
9. Assists in teach programs (departmental, medical, nursing, and community).
10. Endorses policies and procedures of the department and of the hospital.
11. Ensures the maintenance and proper operation of equipment and supplies in the work areas.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification. 
Qualifications: Education/Certification:  Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent. Graduated from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Current Pharmacist certification or licensure in the State of Idaho. Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education or subsequent training.

Experience: None required, but preferred

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge. Grasp of automated pharmacy systems, IV Laminar Flow Hood or the willingness to learn.

Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.

Mathematical Skills: Demonstrates ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as dosage calculations, formulation of pharmaceutical preparations, data analysis, exponents and logarithms.
