Rate of pay: $18.00 – $24.00. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in all trainings as assigned.
- Leads energizing, fun, safe programs, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish established department goals and KPI’s.
- Leverage available technology to enhance client results and experience.
- Actively build client base and meet established retention goals.
- Maintain timely and effective communication with the client including but not limited to scheduling session count and follow up.
- Design and demonstrate exercise programs to minimize injury and promote fitness.
- Monitor and assess client progress, provide motivation, keep accurate records of completed sessions.
- Must have a good working knowledge of general exercise principles up to and including physical limitations, muscle groups, motivational skills, and contra-indicated exercises.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR & First Aid Certified
- Bachelor's Degree in exercise science or related field or nationally recognized personal trainer certification from NCCA. ACSM, ACE, ISSA, NASM or NSCA preferred, but others accepted as deemed appropriate.

- Multi-lingual skills
- NCCA certification

YMCA Healthy Living Prevention Programs
Diabetes Prevention Program
A program for those who have prediabetes or are at high risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The Program is a year-long program, developed in conjunction with Indiana University and recognized by CDC, consists of 16-1 hour-sessions, followed by 6-8 monthly meetings. The classroom-based program is proven that by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a small amount of weight, a person with pre-diabetes who is overweight can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes .

Healthy Lifestyles Behavior Change Program
The program, developed with Stanford University, is a behavior change program where participants focus on one health goal for the duration of the program. In a classroom setting, participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over the course of 22 one-hour sessions. Improved self-confidence and achievement in accomplishing short- and long-term health goals are typical outcomes of the program.
