Job Description
About FLIPANY
FLIPANY is changing the way health and wellness support reaches communities that have been historically ignored. We serve nutritious food, encourage healthy eating, and get people moving. Whether we're teaching kids to dice veggies, kick a ball, or plant a garden, we take a hands-on approach. We also build life skills into all of our programs to support the emotional wellbeing and resilience of the kids and families we serve.
About the Role
We're looking for per diem instructors who want to help make their community healthier and who care about the youth they work with. You'll teach fun, hands-on nutrition and wellness classes to kids at schools, after-school centers, and community centers.
This is an as-needed position with no guaranteed hours. Most classes happen in the afternoon, so afternoon availability is a must. Some locations also have morning classes, depending on the area. Shifts are offered as classes are scheduled.
Schedule: As needed. Mostly afternoons, with some morning classes in certain areas. Approximately 4 to 15 hours per week.
Perks: Mileage reimbursement for drives between sites
What You'll Do
- Teach in-person nutrition and wellness classes to groups of 15–20 youth using FLIPANY's curriculum
- Lead hands-on activities like healthy cooking (using blenders and skillets), gardening, and nutrition lessons
- Keep a positive, structured classroom and handle behavior challenges as they come up
- Prepare for each class by reviewing the lesson, ordering supplies, and confirming class details ahead of time
- Arrive with all materials packed and ready, and handle setup and cleanup at each site
- Record attendance, surveys, and photos in real time on a FLIPANY-issued tablet
- Keep accurate mileage reports for drives between sites
- Communicate with site staff so classes run smoothly
- Update the FLIPANY team on class progress and any classroom concerns
- Attend required trainings and curriculum reviews
What You Need
- At least one year of experience working with groups of children
- A background in child development, psychology, or another social science, through school or hands-on experience
- A valid Florida driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- A personal commitment to health and wellness
- Comfort using an iPad and simple tech in the classroom
- Organized, dependable, and calm under pressure
Physical Requirements
Classes may be indoors or outdoors, sometimes in heat or sun. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and moving around during class.
