Peer Support Externship

Part II. Position Information 

Title: Peer Support Extern 

Department: Programs
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Title of Immediate Supervisor: Manager of Career Readiness and Employment

Primary Functions of the Position: 

The Peer Support Intern will support the programs department by engaging with programs participants in a professional capacity to encourage positive program engagement and success. This role will support Career Readiness and Employment program participants and graduates by contributing to cohort curriculum and providing in-person peer coaching and support.  

This position requires collaboration with: 

1. Manager of Career Readiness and Employment
2. Career Readiness and Employment team
3. Life Skills and Transition team 
4. Director of Programs

Specific Functions of the Position: 

1. Contribute to cohort curriculum and classroom teaching opportunities for Career Readiness and Employment Program.
2. Provide in-person peer coaching and support for Career Readiness and Employment participants.
3. Assist in the planning and implementation of social groups for adult programs clients and community members. 

Qualifications: 

Required Primary Attributes: 

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Career Readiness and Employment Internship graduate.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
