PB Coding Supervisor

Accountabilities:

• Supervise the daily activities of coding staff and external coding vendors to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding and billing processes.
• Monitor coding workflows, work queues, denials, and claim edits to maintain operational efficiency and revenue cycle performance.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and coding standards.
• Collaborate with coding vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve coding issues and improve overall workflow management.
• Oversee compliance audits and ensure corrective actions and quality standards are consistently maintained.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to coding teams to support productivity, accuracy, and professional development.
• Assist leadership coverage and operational continuity as needed, supporting departmental goals and initiatives.
• Contribute to process improvements and operational strategies that enhance coding quality and efficiency.

Requirements:

• Associate’s degree required, or equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CCS-P certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years of coding experience within a highly computerized hospital or healthcare environment.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to manage teams and workflows effectively.
• Strong understanding of professional billing, coding regulations, claim management, denials, and compliance processes.
• Experience working with coding vendors and coordinating cross-functional healthcare operations is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Current Washington State driver’s license required.
