Payroll Implementation Support

Role Overview 

The Payroll Implementation Support partners directly with clients to successfully implement and optimize payroll solutions. Acting as a trusted advisor throughout the implementation lifecycle, this role is responsible for gathering requirements, configuring payroll systems, leading client training, and ensuring a smooth transition to operational use. The ideal candidate combines payroll expertise, project management skills, and a passion for helping organizations leverage technology to improve payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. 

Compensation | $75,000-$95,000 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead payroll implementation projects from discovery through go-live, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met. 

• Understand client’s payroll processes, business requirements, compliance needs, and reporting objectives. 

• Configure payroll systems, earnings and deduction codes, tax settings, direct deposit setup, accrual policies, and other payroll-related components. 

• Conduct payroll data reviews, validation, and testing to ensure accurate system setup and client readiness. 

• Facilitate implementation meetings and communicate project status, risks, and next steps with clients and internal stakeholders. 

• Deliver client training on payroll system functionality, best practices, workflows, and administrative features. 

• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and guide clients through payroll parallel testing and go-live preparation. 

• Collaborate with sales, onboarding, HRIS, benefits, and technical teams to ensure successful implementations. 

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions that enhance payroll efficiency and compliance. 

• Develop and maintain detailed implementation documentation, project notes, system configurations, and client records. 

• Serve as a payroll subject matter expert during implementations, providing guidance on payroll regulations and industry best practices. 

• Support post-go-live stabilization and ensure a seamless transition to ongoing client support teams. 

Qualifications 

• 4+ years of experience in payroll, payroll implementation, HRIS implementation, or payroll consulting. 

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and payroll best practices. 

• Experience implementing or configuring payroll platforms such as Paychex, ADP, UKG, Paylocity, Workday, or similar solutions. 

• Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into system configurations. 

• Strong project management, organization, and client relationship management skills. 

• Excellent communication, presentation, and training abilities. 

• Ability to manage multiple implementation projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. 

• Certification such as FPC, CPP, PMP, or related credentials is a plus. 

• Experience with data validation, payroll testing, and system conversion activities preferred.
