Patient Care Technician (Inpatient)

Job Details: Job Location: Texas Institute for Surgery LL SURG - Dallas, TX, Position Type: Full-Time, Education Level: High School/GED, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Shift: Day, The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff by providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in the Inpatient Unit. Responsibilities include assisting with patient mobility, vital signs, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Our patient population primarily consists of individuals undergoing elective orthopedic, spine, ENT, cosmetic, ophthalmology, urology, oral & maxillofacial, and other specialty surgical procedures, as well as patients undergoing medical detoxification.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent
1+ years of experience in a hospital setting or clinical support role
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as employees may occasionally be required to operate a company vehicle. Reasonable accommodations may be provided as required by law.
BLS Certification
One of the following certifications:

 Patient Care Technician Certification (NHA, AMCA, AMT)
Certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) with an active listing on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with the flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms across various departments.
Transport patients using wheelchairs or walkers as needed and assist with personal medical needs.
Recognize, report, and respond appropriately to actual or potential emergency situations.
Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, repositioning, and mobility. 
Collect and label specimen, such as blood and urine, for laboratory testing under proper supervision.
Assist with electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed by clinical staff.
Obtain and accurately document vital signs.
Restock exam rooms, fold laundry, perform basic housekeeping tasks, and complete daily checks of sharps containers, gloves, tissues, and linen disposal.
Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, and team members.
Offer emotional support and clear communication to patients and families to promote comfort and trust.
Chart in CPSI and record patient supply usage on billing sheets.
Provide support across different departments as needed.
Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
