JOB SUMMARY

This position handles business, nonprofit, and consumer clients’ banking transactions in a professional, friendly, and timely manner. Clients request specific services, such as deposits and withdrawals to savings or checking accounts. The teller must decide whether to fulfill a client’s request based on policies and procedures and identify additional financial products and services that may meet a client’s unmet needs.  

A larger percentage of client contact is face-to-face (including drive-up). There is also phone contact. The most difficult aspects of the job include:

• remaining alert to fraudulent activity 
• balancing the cash drawer
• dealing with difficult clients 
• remaining knowledgeable of regulations, policies, and procedures  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS with PERFORMANCE STANDARDS and ANNUAL GOALS

• Serve clients quickly and ensure smooth workflow within the teller area.  
• Quickly and accurately:
• Accept and process business, consumer, and nonprofit clients’ checking and savings deposits.
• Cash checks and handle savings withdrawals.
• Accept mortgage, installment, commercial loan, and overdraft protection payments, as well as line of credit payments and advances.  
• Redeem savings bonds.
• Sell gift cards.  
• Fill coin orders.  
• Process night deposit, mail, and courier transactions.   
• Issue cashier's checks. 
• Reorder and raise debit card limits.  
• Accept change of address forms.  
• Flag travel alerts.  
• Handle foreign currency exchanges.
• Update logs for night drop and mail.
• Complete all work in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
• Remain knowledgeable and current on the products/services you support in the teller function.
• Accurately record telephone transfer requests.
• Balance personal teller drawer.
• Research and locate differences.
• Accurately make correcting entries on a timely basis.

Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma/GED.  

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 1-year of experience in a customer service (with cash handling experience), or equivalent combination of education and related work experience in customer service or retail services.
• Previous teller or cash handling experience preferred.
• Experience providing high quality customer service.
• High attention to detail.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Ability to count and balance cash.

SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
