The Central Registration Representative is responsible for accurately registering patients for hospital and specialty services via face-to-face, phone, or clinical interactions. They also process patient transfers and handle necessary insurance authorizations to ensure accurate data assimilation into the hospital system.
Job Description
Purpose:
The Central Registration Representative is responsible for obtaining information to register services. There are three types of registration: face to face, over the phone and clinical. Quickness, accuracy and effective communication are needed to gather information to be assimilated into the hospital system.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-registers patients for hospital and specialty areas with accuracy.
- Registers patients for hospital and specialty areas with accuracy.
- Processes the transfer of patients from other hospitals and facilities.
- Performs insurance authorizations for patient registrations as necessary.
- Processes patients with appropriate diagnosis as required by specific insurance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Medical terminology required. Previous physician office or medical facility experience including insurance background required. Medical terminology required. Computer experience, good data entry skills needed. Must have good communication and telephone skills, ability to deal with the general public in a professional and courteous manner and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
