Position: Part-Time Online AP Computer Science Instructor

We are seeking a passionate and experienced AP Computer Science instructor to join our faculty as a part-time online teacher.

AIA primarily supports students through an Independent Study model, in which students complete their coursework independently through the Edmentum platform while receiving ongoing guidance, feedback, and academic support from an assigned teacher.

Depending on student needs and teacher availability, teachers may also have opportunities to provide 1:1 live instruction via Google Meet.

Responsibility:

Independent Study Support

• Monitor students' progress and pacing throughout the course via Edmentum by taking weekly student's attendance.
• Grade some of the assignments that require teacher evaluation, such as discussions, written responses, and other non-standardized assessments.
• Provide timely and specific feedback to support student learning.
• Support academic integrity efforts, including proctored final exam.

Live Instruction

• Provide 1:1 live instruction via Google Meet when needed.
• Use live instruction to provide additional academic support and reinforce course concepts.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area; Master or higher degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area; high school teaching experience is preferred.
• Able to offer 2-3 available time slots during weekdays.
• Flexible schedule and availability across time zones
• Experience working with international students
• Proven experience teaching online using diverse strategies, tools, and resources
• Familiarity with online platforms, such as Google Meet, and Edmentum
• Creative, collaborative, and innovative teaching style

Preferred Qualifications:

• State/national teaching certification or online teaching certification
• Degree from or graduate studies at a top program in your field
• 5 years of teaching or professional content expertise
• Advanced Placement (AP) teaching experience
• ESL certification

Compensation:

• Independent Study: $100 stipend for supervising an Independent Study student upon successful completion of an one-semester course, in accordance with AIA guidelines. 
• Live Instruction: $30 per hour for 1:1 instruction, $35 per hour for group instruction.
• Additional compensation may be available for approved staff meetings and professional development.
