Part-time Math Instructor

Sylvan Learning Center, the world's leading provider of supplemental education, is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, self-starting individual to serve as a Math Instructor

Qualifications:

• Ability to teach math through some upper level material – ie. GED Math, Alg. 1, Geometry
• Bachelor’s degree and educational experience
• Prior teaching or subject experience - Teaching credential a plus (any state, any status);
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of working independently, as well as taking direction
• Understanding of the importance of education and its value in our lives
• Commitment & Desire to be part of our company and contribute to its excellence through local partnerships and the success of the students we serve

Major Responsibilities:

• Work off-site with young adult students teaching math with the goal of college and career readiness
• Manage student’s individual math programs
• Maintain and submit reports on student attendance and progress
• Establish strong working relationship with students, center staff and non-profit agency staff
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings

Required experience:

• Math Instruction/Tutoring: 1 year
