St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers
Location: Inpatient Facility - Saranac Lake, NY
Position: Part-time LPN (24 hours per week / Varying days)
Pay Range: $24.70/hr to $28.70/hr
Position Summary: Provides medical and nursing services to clients. Assists clinical staff in monitoring residents and facility for safety and compliance with SJRC rules and regulations.
Education and Training: N.Y.S. Licensed Practical Nurse and CPR certified or Registered Nurse.
Experience and Knowledge: Knowledge of current medical/nursing skills consistent with the requirements of the NYS Education Department relevant to Licensed Practical or Registered Nursing. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of alcohol and chemical dependency programs and treatment services.
Physical Demands: No extraordinary physical demands required.
Essential Duties:
- Provides nursing/medical services to clients.
- Responds to medical emergencies including facilitation of transfer to hospital via rescue squad or SJRC van.
- Responsible for medical/nursing keys during shift.
- Adheres to Pharmacy Services Policy in its entirety, inclusive of controlled substance policy, procedures, and monitor.
- Documents medical information through clinical logbook and email system.
- Conducts and interprets comprehensive nursing assessments and mental status exam.
- Reports and records any medical/nursing issues to senior medical staff to allow for accurate progress notes and revisions to the treatment plan.
- Assists with the provision of education, risk education, counseling, and referral services to all patients regarding HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, and other communicable diseases.
- Assists with the education of residents and staff regarding psycho-tropic medications, potential side effects and related medical concerns.
- Actively participates in meetings, committees, and quality assurance activities.
- Responsible for additional duties as may be assigned by the Senior Nurse.
St. Joseph’s operates a 67-bed inpatient facility, and a 25-bed long-term residential program for male veterans, as well as a family program on our main campus in Saranac Lake; we provide adolescent treatment at our affiliate, Rose Hill, in Massena; outpatient services are provided through seven sites in Essex and Franklin Counties; we provide the opportunity for aftercare at our supportive living program in Poughkeepsie and two guest houses in Poughkeepsie and Schenectady; and our current initiatives include the establishment of a supportive housing program in Malone, joining with the Franklin County DSS to provide on-site clinical assessments, and working with AMC health, Moses Ludington Hospital, and Elizabethtown Hospital as an integral partner in those agencies’ medical villages.
