About the Opportunity

Pair Team is building a team of deeply passionate individuals ready to change primary care operations for those who need it most.  We are looking for a highly motivated part-time Family Physician (contractor) who is willing to think creatively and empathically to help our team change the way people access healthcare. 

We seek a part-time Family Physician (contractor) to play a critical role in our whole-person, interdisciplinary care model.  The Family Physician will be responsible for providing supervision for our Nurse Practitioners who provide multidisciplinary care to individuals living with Serious Mental Illness/ Substance Use Disorder, experiencing homelessness, and/or those who have high medical needs. We believe in the power of trust and relationships to successfully engage those who may have never received the kind of whole-health care that Pair Team can provide. The Family Physician will also have the opportunity to provide input on clinical programs that our team is developing. The Family Physician will report to our physician leadership. 

As a Part-Time Physician, you’ll play an important clinical role in supporting the launch of our Medicare program across multiple states. This role will provide virtual care to Medicare patients with chronic, complex, and often overlapping medical, behavioral health, and social needs.

You’ll work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, care managers, and other members of the care team to provide thoughtful, high-quality clinical care, support care coordination, and help address the unique needs of patients with complex health conditions. This is an opportunity for a physician who is passionate about whole-person care, values interdisciplinary collaboration, and wants to help shape an innovative model of care for Medicare patients.

This role is a remote contract based role, best suited for someone who is looking for 5-10 hours of work with us per week to start.

It is required that you work from and live in the United States (USA) and are available for PST hours for urgent needs/support.

What You’ll Do

• Enable best-in-class virtual health care for underserved patients by collaborating with our NPs, using our internal care delivery technology and your excellent clinical judgment
• Help develop and refine clinical programs to support our patients holistically and address barriers / gaps in their care
• Collaborate and grow with a diverse and inclusive team
• Work from home with laptop and workstation provided

What You’ll Need

• 2+ years of clinical experience in serving patients with complex social and healthcare needs and passionate about building a more equitable healthcare system
• Experience and desire to work closely with a multidisciplinary team
• Technology-savvy and experienced in digital-first healthcare (e.g. telemedicine) and comfortable working in a variety of different tech platforms
• You are physically located in California and have a quiet, HIPAA compliant and internet connected space
• Board certification or eligibility as a Family Physician
• Eligible to enroll in Medicare 
• Comfortable and able to work with patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Experience working with and in Medicaid/FQHC clinics that are often underfunded / underserved 
• Experience working with Medicare beneficiaries managing chronic disease
• Medical license in CA (plus additional state licensure or willingness to obtain additional licenses), and active CA DEA or willing to get one
• Startup experience is a plus!
