(Part-Time Contract) Community and Member Advocacy Manager

We're looking for a part-time contract Community and Member Advocacy Manager to help grow Virta's member engagement through a few key projects. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships, bringing people together, and creating meaningful experiences that strengthen our Virta member community.

You'll work directly with members and member ambassadors to coordinate local events, support community-building efforts on social media, and help transform participating members into long-term Virta advocates.

Throughout the process, you will also help identify compelling member stories that can support the communications and marketing teams.

This is a highly collaborative role for someone who is energized by connecting with people and thrives in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

As part of the communications team, you’ll support three main initiatives, through a 12-week sprint, with a laser focus on growing our Virta member community.

Member Meet-up Program

Our Member Meet-Up Program is a new program we’re building to encourage peer-to-peer support and to help our members connect with one another in meaningful ways - from coffee shop convos, to park walks, to recipe swaps.

You will help manage the day-to-day operations of the program, and work directly with Virta members to help plan and execute local meet-ups for the next meet-up cycle. This process includes:

• Help recruit, onboard, and support Virta members who want to organize a local meet-up.

• Coordinate outreach campaigns, event communications, RSVP management, and follow-up.

• Maintain organized documentation, program trackers, event calendars, waivers, and contact lists.

• Serve as a primary point of contact for highly engaged members.

• Continuously evaluate the program and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, member participation, and scalability.

Member Community Management

We have a growing online community which has become a go-to place for members to seek support, information, and inspiration throughout their Virta journey.

In this role, you will help build authentic relationships with our community through ongoing communication and support across Virta’s social platforms.

• Monitor comments and direct messages across Virta’s social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, YouTube, and TikTok).

• Respond to member questions and conversations in a warm, thoughtful, and on-brand voice.

• Escalate member support issues using Virta’s community care process.

• Track social care cases and ensure they are resolved.

• Share recurring member feedback, questions, and trends with the Communications and Member teams.

• Follow community guidelines and privacy standards, moving conversations to private support channels when needed.

Member Stories & Advocacy

Virta’s member stories and testimonials are one of our most powerful growth engines. They build trust with prospective members, inspire current ones, and strengthen client partnerships through real-world proof of outcomes.

You will focus on sourcing, organizing, and managing Virta member stories that are gathered while supporting the Member Meet-Up Program and Member Community Management projects, and support multiple, internal Virta teams by providing member stories for their initiatives.

• Identify members with compelling health journeys who may be a fit for Virta’s ongoing marketing initiatives.

• Coordinate outreach, storytelling intake, marketing waivers, and approvals directly with members.

• Help maintain an internal, searchable library of member stories and testimonial assets.

• Track member permissions, waivers, story status, and approved usage across internal Virta teams.

• Proactively follow up with promising member advocates and help nurture long-term relationships beyond a single campaign or story request.

Contract Deliverables

• Activate 15 new Virta Ambassadors and launch Virta Member Meet-ups in 10 new priority markets

• Increase meaningful community engagement (comments, replies, and conversations) by supporting timely, thoughtful interactions across channels

• Identify and activate ~25+ new members for cross-channel initiatives (e.g. PR stories, conferences/events, and marketing collateral)

Must-Haves

• 3-5 years experience coordinating community programs, ambassador programs, customer events

• Experience working directly with customers or members in a relationship-focused role

• Experience supporting marketing campaigns or collecting customer testimonials

• Passion for health, wellness, and helping people build meaningful connections

• Experience with social media community management or customer care platforms such as Sprout Social, program management applications, including Google Suite, and tracking/GEO monitoring tools like Amplitude or Ahrefs.

• Comfort navigating sensitive health-related conversations with empathy and good judgment

Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. For this role, the compensation range is an expected hourly rate of $45-50/hour.

As part of your duties at Virta, you may come in contact with sensitive patient information that is governed by HIPAA. Throughout your career at Virta, you will be expected to follow Virta's security and privacy procedures to ensure our patients' information remains strictly confidential. Security and privacy training will be provided.
