Part-Time- Community Outreach Coordinator

Our Company: North Carolina FC Youth (NCFC Youth) is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 16,000 players (ages 2.5-19) and their families each year. Through full-service programming, NCFC Youth offers youth soccer for all levels of play – from Recreation and outreach programs up to the highest levels of elite competition. In addition, NCFC Youth hosts tournaments, camps, and other events to ensure the best player development opportunities. 

NCFC Youth’s on and off field operations are supported by more than 1,700 personnel including full-time staff, seasonal coaches, and volunteer coaches. In collaboration with the professional North Carolina Football Club, home to NC Courage (NWSL) and North Carolina FC (USL Championship), NCFC Youth is the largest youth-to-professional club in the country and offers a pipeline of player development including U-23s, amateur & academy contracts, and professional contracts in addition to coaching development opportunities.

The Position: The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for leading and growing in-school and community soccer programming across the region on behalf of NCFC Youth. Using the U.S. Soccer Forward “Soccer at Schools” curriculum, this person will develop, coordinate, and implement soccer-based activities during recess, physical education (PE) classes, after-school clubs and in-school “takeover” sessions across partnering schools. The goal is to engage youth who may not otherwise have access to club soccer, to foster fun, movement, teamwork, and life skills, and to strengthen NCFC Youth’s role as a community partner.

Essential Functions:

School & Community Partnerships

• Identify, build and sustain (existing partnerships w/ Fields Manager) relationships with local schools (elementary, middle) and school districts, including PE teachers, administrators, after-school coordinators and community organizations.
• Negotiate and manage agreements for implementing in-school programming (e.g., recess soccer sessions, PE takeovers), after-school soccer clubs, and other outreach events.
• Serve as the primary liaison between NCFC Youth and participating schools, ensuring the club’s outreach efforts reflect our mission and values.
• Represent NCFC Youth at school events, community fairs, partner meetings, and engage stakeholders to promote outreach programming.
• Program Design & Delivery
• Plan, adapt and deliver soccer programming for schools using the U.S. Soccer Foundation “Soccer in Schools” curriculum, customizing to age level, school schedule and participant needs.
• Design sessions for recess, PE warm-ups/takeovers, after-school soccer clubs, and special events, ensuring alignment with NCFC Youth’s values: fun, excellence, community, innovation, passion.
• Train, supervise and support part-time staff, coaches or volunteers who assist in delivering sessions, ensuring consistent quality, safety, positive environment and branding.
• Maintain proper session planning documents, equipment checklists, risk-management and safety protocols.

Data & Impact Measurement

• Collect, analyze and report on program data: number of schools partnered, sessions delivered, youth participants engaged, retention, feedback and outcomes (e.g., physical activity, engagement, skill development).
• Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on outreach program performance, successes, challenges and opportunities for growth.
• Use participant and school feedback to refine programming, improve effectiveness, and enhance the participant experience.

Administrative & Communications

• Manage scheduling of outreach sessions and logistics in coordination with NCFC Youth operations (fields, equipment, travel).
• Oversee the inventory of equipment, maintain outreach field/back-school supplies, ensure proper set-up/take-down at school sites and transportation of materials as needed.
• Collaborate with NCFC Youth’s marketing/communications team to share stories of outreach impact (photos, testimonials, school highlights) and support broader club awareness and partnership opportunities.
• Promote NCFC Youth’s values at all times and act as an ambassador for the club in the community.
• Professional Development & Culture
• Stay current with best practices in youth physical activity, youth development, coaching, outreach and the U.S. Soccer Foundation curriculum.
• Attend trainings, workshops or certifications required by U.S. Soccer Foundation or NCFC Youth.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture within NCFC Youth outreach and broader club staff, reflecting our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Mandatory reporter of abuse. Must report all suspected abuse within 24 hours using the Abuse Prevention Report.

Qualifications/Competencies:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Kinesiology, Sports & Recreation Management, Youth Development, or comparable relevant experience.
• Proven experience working with youth in schools, community settings, or sports/outreach programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written), including ability to engage with school administrators, teachers, students and community stakeholders.
• Demonstrated organizational skills; ability to manage multiple programs/projects, travel across sites, adapt to varying school schedules.
• Self-motivated, creative, resourceful and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Valid driver’s license and comfortable traveling throughout the region on a frequent basis.

Preferred:

• Experience delivering physical-activity or sports programming in schools or after-school settings.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Soccer Foundation “Soccer in Schools” curriculum, or similar youth development/sport for social good frameworks.
• Coaching or teaching certification(s); background in youth soccer or other sports.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred, given diverse school populations.
• Experience in a non-profit or community outreach role, ideally within youth sports.

Job Type Requirements:

• Part time; hourly position.
• Work primarily during standard school hours (e.g., 11am–4 pm) while schools are in session. (Approx 20 hours per week)
• Evening or weekend events will be required (e.g., school/community soccer nights, outreach fairs).
• Role is a mix of field-based work (in schools, parks, facilities) and office/remote administrative work.
• Frequent travel across the club’s service area in the Greater Triangle region of North Carolina; use of personal vehicle will be required

Work Environment/Travel/Physical Demands:

• The role requires standing, moving, active participation in sessions, possibly in outdoor/indoor spaces, and must model enthusiastic, high-energy engagement with youth.
• Physical demands: bending, sitting, lifting, and event set-up.
