Part-Time Center Associate

We are launching a brand new independently owned and operated UPS Store in East Setauket, NY, 10 minutes from the Stonybrook University Campus. And we are looking to build a reliable founding team for motivated individuals to grow with us.

As a Center Associate, you will be the face of our store, delivering great customer service, expert packing solutions, processing returns, managing mailboxes, and operating our digital print systems. You will advise our valued customers by providing accurate information in our array of products, services, and best value options and use best practices related to our industry.

No prior shipping experience is required. We provide full training and highly value relatable skills from backgrounds such as:

• Retail & Hospitality (Cashiers, baristas, bank tellers)
• Office & Admin (Receptionists, assistants)
• Creative & Digital (Canva, Adobe, print shop, or photo center experience)
• Food Service (Fast casual or busy restaurant environments)

The ideal candidate has previous retail sales experience, strong computer and internet skills, a high school diploma or GED, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor, and a professional appearance. He or she must be a fast learner who makes an effort to learn all aspects of the business in the shortest possible time.

RESPONSIBILITIES          

• Deliver outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries
• Continuously practice good listening skills with customers, UPS Store team members, and leadership
• Take ownership of the customer's shipping needs and offers viable solutions
• Take action to learn all product and service offerings, alternative solutions, and industry trends
• Operate all equipment, software, and devices in an expert fashion and is willing to teach others
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS            

• Willing to work 20 to 30 hours a week for a 6-day work week.
• Strong verbal communication and a friendly customer-first attitude.
• High school diploma or GED required
• Basic computer proficiency (navigating software, typing). Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites desirable but not essential.
• Outstanding phone skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and math
• Prompt, reliable, and responsible
• Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
• Open availability on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays is a huge plus)
• Willingness to become a NYS Notary Public (huge plus)
